Supposedly Queen are going to tour next year with Paul Rodgers as their frontman, so far just british dates that i'm aware of.

I know you are probably being sarcastic, but it actually might be a good combo. When they did the Freddie Mercury tribute concert, George Michael did a pretty kick ass job of fronting the group.

I really liked Queen, they had a unique style of music and Freddie really was an awesome and powerful singer.

He sang with Bad Company and before that, a band called Free. He was also in The Firm with Jimmy Page.

Back in the summer.. Paul Rodgers and Bad Co. were s'posed to perform at the waterfront festival in my hometown. I was gonna go see them, but the their show was cancelled :(

I'm glad the guys are doing something together again, I just don't know if I think they should call it Queen - actually it's just two of the members, John Deacon won't be a part of it. So I think they should make a new band together instead (which it is anyway) - I'm pretty sure that they would get enough anttention just for being "two ex-members of Queen", and they could still play Queen songs live. Everyone is going to complain because Freddie isn't there anyway, and I don't think anyone will accept them as being Queen.

Freddie Mercury was, is and always SHALL be the singer of Queen. For them to tour and have the audacity to call themselves Queen is a travesty. Besides, as much as I like Paul Rodgers, no f*cking WAY he can hit the notes Freddie used to!

If they want to still play that's all well and good. Make a new band and give yourselves a new name. Could you picture Zeppelin touring without Plant? Yes, I know Sabbath toured without Ozzy....but Iommi was the main songwriter and they replaced Ozzy with a FAR superior vocalist in Ronnie James Dio. No way is Rodgers a better singer than Freddie was, and Freddie was the heart and soul of their songwriting.

I must agree whole-heartedly with Pagan.I have no problems with the former members of Queen(Roger,John,Brian) wanting to reunite and play music together again,this in istself there is nothing wrong with. But for the to go under the title of Queen is just wrong.
Its insulting to Queen's legacy as a rock band and to the legions of Queen fans out there who will not accept anyone but Freddie as the lead singer of Queen.

Now that Ive been reminded of who Paul Rodgers is, theres nothing wrong with him singing in this but not under the banner of Queen.
It's just like the Doors with out Jim Morrison,INXS without Michael Hutchence, or what have you it just doesnt work.By the way unless Paul is the same zodiacal sign as Freddie their symbol made up of all their signs doesnt work either. :tsk: LOL~!

I agree with Pagan! Freddie Mercury was Queen! It is rare that a band that was phenomonal success after it loses its front man. When they leave they pretty much lose their identity.

No one can replace Freddie.. but I will admit.. Brian May does a good job singing whenever they play live

No sarcasm at all I'm totally serious, did you ever hear him sing WITH Queen at the Freddy tribute? He's the man for the job. Like him or not George Michael has an incredible voice and was easily the best singer performing with Queen at that show.

That and now as I'm reminded who Paul Rodgers is.. I don't like the sounds of that. Maybe when I hear it.

George was incredible at that tribute concert. I'd say he was tied though...believe it or not Gary Cherone did fantastic also.

Well, Bad Company have always been one of my old school rock favorites, and I love Queen. Not sure how the new band will sound though. Here is Brain May's message from his website about the tour.

Well, the news seems to be out .... Roger spilled the beans on his interview with the Wettendass Web-page gal .... so I endorsed it.

And this time it's not just a rumour. We are in the process of looking at venues for a QUEEN tour in the spring. It really all came about because of the Fender 50th Anniversary gig that I did with Paul Rodgers. We were both so amazed at the chemistry that was going on in All Right Now, that suddenly it seems blindingly obvious that there was "something happening here". And if we were to play together some more, which we both thought was an exciting possibility, who would be the drummer ??? Well, the expression "No Brainer" comes to mind. Then the UK Hall of Fame awards just came up out of the blue. Apparently we had won one of the categories and the request was there for us to play. I had already had the conversation with Roger at this point, about how brilliant Paul Rodgers was, and, since, very conveniently, he had also been asked to be there, we agreed we would ask Paul if he would team up with us for this event.

The rest in a way is already History. The show went so incredibly well from our point of view, and we got so many rave reactions from out there, we decided almost then and there that we would look at a tour together.

This is what we have been doing over the last two or three weeks, looking at venues, discussing how we might approach our collective material, etc. etc.

It's very exciting .... ever since the run-up to that Awards show, I felt in my waters that something big and scary was happening. Scary because as soon as you press the button for something like this you set a massive juggernaut into motion which cannot be stopped ! So bang goes the home life, and anything else we might have planned for the coming months. Suddenly the QUEEN Phoenix is rising again from the ashes, and will take precedence over everything in our lives. So be it. So there ya go. I won't go into more details right now, but, barring accidents, QUEEN and PAUL RODGERS will be on the road, pretty much for sure, around April 2005.

I agree that they should just form a different band with new name. They may not even get John Deacon I hear.

As for the tribute concert, I thought Roger Daltry did a great job with "I Want It All".

Go buy the LIVE AID DVD and watch how queen OWNED the show. For crying out loud he had the entire crowd clapping together like it was a rock video during Radia Ga Ga. RADIO FRIEKING GAGA, not even one of thier top 15 songs, and he had all of Wembly in the palm of his hand. I got goosebumps watching that performance. If they go around, I wouldnt watch them if it was free, and they were playing my front lawn.

Make it a 12 of Heineken and we'll sit and watch the Live Aid DVD and my QUEEN LIVE AT WEMBLEY DVD.
