Shorty Long - Chickenboxer (crazy band out of Austin) '20s style music, a nice fusion of eukelele, slap bass, and lot of attitude.

I've realized I don't have very many non-80's Cds.

After reading Prefab's i can't believe i missed it so i must put it in my list:
Massive Attack - Blue Lines (1991)
and i'll add
The Beloved - Happiness (1990)

As a footnote Prefab:
During the Gulf war Massive Attack dropped the 'Attack' part from their name and on my copy are simply 'Massive'! I don't know which version is rarer though.
