A similar topic was posted not too long ago.

The Number One songs in the US and UK--on my birthday (August 4, 1970)--was The Carpenters' (They Long To Be) Close To You and Elvis Presley's The Wonder Of You, respectively.

I didn't want to register my email address at that link. I already get too much junk mail as it is. How can I find out the answer, without giving them my email address. Giggles..... :)

Sad...never even heard of it. I know the song that I just hate was number one for the year I was born was "American Pie" by Don McLean. :dammit:
If you ever spent any time in pubs with live bands you'd be sick of it too!

I think I've done this a couple times. Crocodile Rock by Elton John was #1 in the U.S. ( I didn't even have to look this time!! YAY! me!! ) Sadly, I've still never heard it. Was it any good?

In the U.K. it was Blockbuster by The Sweet. I have no idea what this is, either. Bueller? Anyone?

When I turned 16 in 1989, it was:
