View Full Version : England start there World Cup Campaign Sat 4 Sept
I know football is not the most talked about subject here but could you float some positive energy in Austria's direction about 7:30pm (Uk time) to wish England good luck!
I don't know if the game is shown live in the US, but just check the score and raise a drink if we win!
Good luck US in your sporting campaigns too! :thumb:
Hey - send some thoughts to Copenhagen aswell. Denmark takes on Ukraine today http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung0304/travesmilies/flaggen1/smilie_flagge14.gif :bouncy:
Bobbins! 2-2! And 2-0 up at one time! How did Denmark do? :irked:
How did Denmark do? :irked:
Baaah  We were up 1-0 after only nine minutes, but it became 1-1 in the end  We dominated, but couldn't score :dammit: Ukraine pulled a "Greece" on us, and had most of their players defending hoping for the contra - and it worked :(

Don't you hate it when that happens? Unfortunately 'Calamity' (David) James fluffed a grasscutter as usual, though Austria gave us a soft goal when their goalie picked up a backpass.
Oh well, Poland Wednesday, Good luck Denmark if they play then!
We play Albania October 9'th and Turkey at home October 13'th!
But good luck wednesday :thumb:

And according to the press, David James' 'Schoolboy' error is all Sven-Goran Erikkson's fault. :bs: :dammit:
When the bullshit stops and the whistle blows, it's down to the 11 outfield players - and no amount of managerial expertise can legislate for such a horrendous individual error.
I wondered when you might join in, Chasey ;) :thumb:
Prefab Sprouter 9-06-04, 08:08 AM Well we got off to a good start with a 3-0 win against Cyprus and we now have a chance to exact some revenge against Switzerland on Wednesday. Hopefully we can get some points there, especially now Keano is back for us! :D
There is a serious problem with England at present. For a start, they dont have any more quality goalkeepers. Very few Premiership teams have English Goalkeepers. Players like richard Wright and Kirkland have not followed up on their potential and the only realistic candidate now is Paul Robinson. I dont think they have ever sorted out the left side of midfield. I thought that Trevor sinclair had a good world cup in 2002 playing on that side but he seems to have dropped off the radar. Any thoughts?
Prefab - congratulations on your win :thumb: And good luck Wednesday :)
I'll let the Brits talk about their own team - I don't dare say much with the hooliganism and all ;)
Next up Wednesday and Poland!!! They've NEVER given us a tough game!!!! Yeh, right! Just the name Poland strikes fear in the heart of the English!! Dear Mr Erikkson is going to have some time on his hands to sha... i mean show the ladies a good time after he gets sacked! I love the smell of burning scapegoat in the morning! I mean seriously isn't it time we admitted we've not got a great team, for a supposed big team we only won the World Cup once back in '66!
Let's sack Erikkson and replace him with who? Sooty? Ali Bongo? Why not scoot along to the FA's website and get your application in, we've all played championship manager, i mean if i can win the Premiership with Watford (please god one day!!!), i'm ready to do my bit for the country!!!

A good night in my house!!!!!!!!!!
England win 2-1 in Poland and the wife's Slovakia thrash Liechtenstein 7-0!
Hooray! :thumb:
2-1 doesn't sound too convincing - but hey 3 points are always good
Michelle_TAV 9-09-04, 01:55 AM Hey guys  just thought I'd jump in with our exciting but modest news: Israel beat Cyprus 2-1 last night
Prefab Sprouter 9-09-04, 05:12 AM Well we went to Switzerland and got a draw which wasnt bad at all. The swiss actually started to play very dirty towards the end. Now bring on France in October and joy of joys, Patrick Vieira got sent off so they wont be as fomridable. Michelle, I never congratulated you on Israel's excellent result in Paris at the weekend and best of luck in the rest of the campaign. You'll forgive me if I say that I hope we beat you!!! :D

All's fair in love and soccer :mwaha:! basketball or rubgy, on the other hand, and I'd remind you to bite your tongue :D
Personally I doubt we'll get very far - when it comes to intl. sports, we've proven ourselves better in basketball - but it never stops our boys from giving their all (bless their little fighting hearts ;) )
...but hey! if ain't us (which it probably won't be), I hope its either England or Ireland
