We called it the 'late bus'. It was for kids that had sports practice, or work to do on their studies, ect. It was another bus that ran all the same routes a few hours after the normal ones at the end of the day. Many kids (including this one) would us it as a social tool. I lived in a spread out country area, and hanging with your buds, or a romantic get together could be had without worry about rides from spying parents. You had to get a pass from a teacher though, but I had an ex-hippie English teacher who was understanding. I use to tell him I was going to go to the library. One day he walked around a corner just as I was in a comfortable, relaxed position kissing my girlfriend when I was suppost to be using the pass for it's stated purpose. He never said a thing, and still never questioned me when he signed my passes. Anyone else have these, and make good use of them?

No, I never heard of them. Always got a ride to school & such from mom untill I got a car in 12th grade. Sounds like a good idea though. I wonder if these buses are still around today.

Never heard of a late bus. The kids in our high school who were involved in anything after school, had to find their own way home.

We had a "late" bus, too. I took it a lot because I played a lot of sports my sophomore year of high school. I don't remember having to have a special slip for it, though. I also remember being in swimming and having to take a different "regular" bus over to the jr. high after school (our high school didn't have a pool).
