View Full Version : posting pics
Okay... I have never been able to post my pics without sending them to Sal and having his post them... Sal.. will that feature ever work that allows you to post them with the little paperclip button?
Otherwise... do I have to have my pics posted on a web site already? Any good hints or tips for most of us users who wanna post pics and stuff?
Roemello and I discussed this just the other day. I was trying to use the little paperclip to post my pic until Roemello told me it didn't work. He said that you had to already have the pic on the web and just make a link pointing to it. Guess I'll have to make a web site. Sure would be a lot less trouble though if I could just use this system.
Any idea's on what may be wrong with it, Sal or Roemello?

Roemello 3-26-01, 01:55 PM Actually, we wouldn't know http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//tongue.gif Our UBB hacker, Allen Ayres, is the one that makes all these enhancements on the board. Hey Sal...chalk another item on that infamous to-do list http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif

It would be better to be able to use the paperclip. Although, I have already started looking into just putting an html page on one of the free servers and just having a picture there. Guess If I did that, every one could just mail me there photo's, I could add it to the page and then just give them the link?
Yup! The paperclip would much easier!

H@ns (I MIGHT just be the bad guy from Die Hard!)
Iluvthe80s 6-23-01, 01:11 AM I have been feeling left out lately because I want to post some pics of me but I do not own a scanner. I was going to go to Office Depot and have them scan some picture of me onto a disk. If I do that, is there a way they can be posted on here from them? I'm not sure how this all works. I would like to posts some pics sometime this week on here.
Roemello 6-23-01, 04:43 AM I seem to be the official picture poster of the people, so if you get pics put on disc, you can either e-mail them to me or send them to me from the 80sXchange chatroom when I'm online and I'll pop 'em right up <img src="wink.gif" border="0">
Unless you have your own webspace...then you just link 'em in with the img tags <img src="wink.gif" border="0">
djdaffy1227 6-23-01, 10:30 PM I still haven't figured out how to use this damn scanner. I have lots of pictures from now and then that I want to post! Can someone private message me or e-mail me instructions. The instructions it came with are nowhere to be found and my girlfriend doesn't know how to use it either. <img src="mad.gif" border="0">
If it helps it's says SNAPSCAN EZ AGFA on the side. I would also need to know how to attach things to an e-mail.
P.S. Remember I am computer illiterate so please use layman terms.
Thanks,
I love you guys! <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

Blaziegirl 6-28-01, 09:32 PM Roemy, I added Kayennes pic to the Then & Now section, you might want to add it to your picture page <img src="smile.gif" border="0">
Dj, have you figured out that scanner yet?

I've got some "Then" pics being scanned for me, and hopefully I'll get them posted within the week.

wavemaster 7-11-01, 04:11 AM Maybe this is helpful...
Since I´m now a full-fledged (and unemployed...duh) media designer, here are some tips for scanning a pic. I´m trying to make it as easy as possible - technical english is not my strength... <img src="wink.gif" border="0">
1. Try to take only pics which are properly exposed! This is pretty important, as the minority of you owns a scanner which can handle this to good results (I´m expecting that most of you won´t paid $1000 for it...). Otherwise, the pics look dull, too sharp/bright or wrong in colours.
If you want to (and if you dare!), play around with varying settings of colour, hue and contrast, but don´t overdo it - sometimes the results look interesting, most times don´t.
2. Set the scan to 72 dpi (some scanware offers 75 dpi). More is unnecessary, you will only blow up the data size. Only exception: small pics used for passports etc.
Scan those with 150 dpi, import to your picture software (e.g. Photoshop) and reduce resolution to 72 dpi but keep the proportions. If that´s still too small for you, increase scan rate dividable by 75 (300, 450, 600...), common are 300 or 600 dpi.
If you are experiencing some kind of patterns (these are called Moiré or Moiré Effect), check out if your scanware offers a selection to avoid them.
3. Make it a JPEG! After you think that everything´s okay with that pic, convert it to .jpg-format. This helps reducing data size a lot. Recommended is a maximal data size of 15 k. Generally, keep it as small as possible - not everyone is using ADSL or even more sophisticated technology... <img src="wink.gif" border="0">
This is also a border for your actual pic size...even if you set the quality on zero, you won´t squish a 10x10 inch pic to 15k... <img src="tongue.gif" border="0">
Well...a small advice from me... <img src="wink.gif" border="0">
...wow!
that's impressive.
but it went right over my head..<img src="tongue.gif" border="0">
i think it will help some of the others though, who know more about the technical side of it all.
thanks wavemaster <img src="smile.gif" border="0">
wavemaster 7-12-01, 02:33 AM I knew that the last two years of voc school were worth something...even only to confuse harmless people... <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0">
That's pretty solid advice Wavemaster and the english was just fine. <img src="smile.gif" border="0">
