View Full Version : Miracle Cure?
morningmyst 3-29-01, 12:34 AM Myst is having a terrible case of the Blues http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//frown.gif....my best friend just told me today that we are "growing apart" and that things like this happen. (she's in that last pic with me.) Anyways, she started hanging out with another one of her friends who I cannot stand. I never said anything about it to her. Then, she stops calling...I asked her tonight what was going on between us. That's when she says that. She says that things with us will never be the way that they were...we'll have to try to work on another form of friendship..." Our daughters are really good friends, and I don't want to take that away from her. My husband thinks that I should "kick her to the curb"...but, I don't give up that easily...maybe I should. I don't know. Should I give up on the friendship? Or should I still try??? Right now, my heart is aching,http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//CRYING2.gif and I'm sooo confused. Thanks in advance.

Dawn.. I say... give it some time apart... I don't get why she can't have both of you as friends, but women are strange sometimes..
She DOES still want to be friends though... so... you might try just to be a distant friend for a while and see how things progress... just remember that you have lots of other people that care about you (including us, and I hope that counts)..
You can hang out here and talk to us!!

I don't know why she couldn't be friends with me and *that* woman. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif I'm not even sure if she said that just so that I'd leave it be.....She's a little different...She doesnt get emotional about ANYTHING....where I'll cry at a ketchup commercial.http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif

Sal Collaziano 3-29-01, 01:26 AM Hey. This 'other' woman. How long has she been in the picture? I have the feeling that your best friend will miss you in time. I think like Tinajo - stay away a little bit. Be a friend, but don't go out of your way. I bet she'll be back in time. You'd have been best friends for years. Right? I think that'll hold up. Just give it time...

The loneliness just fades away
thoughts of you just memories
no cryin now for what we're missin
time won't forget what you meant to me
morningmyst 3-29-01, 02:12 AM The "other" woman http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif has been friends with her for a couple of years now. And, I have backed off to give her space. I was then told that I was "excluding" her from things. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//confused.gif Oh, well. (We've been friends for almost 3 years...not all that long, but long enough, right?) I actually was friends with this "other" woman up until last September...that's when I heard her talking crap about me and saying that I was needy and possessive...Then after that......forget it! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//fight.gif http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif

Silveradocruiser 3-29-01, 03:21 PM Dawn...Same thing happened to me a couple of years ago.
It was a guy that I've known since I was like 4-5 years old. We played as kids, then went to different schools, but later on ended up at the same college.
After college we both established our own firms, and worked a lot together. After a few Years he began co-operating with this other guy, who's greatest thrill was mocking ppl behind their backs!http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//stareup.gif
My "friend" soon started acting the same way, wich made him look like an idiot to his costumers, and our other friends. I tried to tell him (others did too) but he said he didn't care...
Then he stopped returning all calls from me and the rest of his friends. We were like 10 guys (and girls) from the college-days who were really close and hung out together all the time.(still do btw) We used to party every weekend, and go to movies and stuff during the weeks.
Now my friend has suddenly realized that this other guy was just sooo full of sh*t!http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//uhoh2.gif
What to do? He's almost completely lost contact with all his "real" friends...
I stopped by his place the other day, when I was in the 'hood' and talked to him for a while. He now claims that he's doing fine on his own, living together with a girl and doesn't need to hang out with his old friends anymore... Wonder what happens if that girl leaves him??? Sad...
Hmmmm... Do I have a point...???http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//confused.gif Well, I guess friends do grow apart sometimes, especially when one of them meet new ppl/partners.
Silverado's law:If You're REALLY good friends, that shouldn't matter!http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif A real friend doesn't give up that easy!
As for the rest of Silverado's laws, You can just forget about them...http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif

Hi'ya Myst. I'm sorry to hear of your troubles. While I don't even pretend to understand women, I think that maybe everyone here has made some good points.
I agree with both Sal and Tinajo that sometimes a little distance can make a difference in a friendship. If you have heard this other woman making off-colored comments about you, then it is likely that this is playing apart in your troubles. What can you do? Perhaps just back off and hope your friend finds out who her true friend is.
Silverado is right also, though. Sometimes people do just grow apart. I've been in that situation myself and I know you feel helpless about it. But if the other person isn't willing to try, then there may not be a lot you can do.
I know this probably hasn't helped you much. Just remember though, that no matter what happens. We are still your friends and we're not going anywhere... http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif

If I'm here and your here doesn't that make it our time?
morningmyst 3-30-01, 02:42 AM *Myst wipes a tear from her eye* Gosh guys! Thanks so much. You all mean the world to me. I do feel better today than I did yesterday. I've decided to just let things be. I'm not going to push the issue with her. One of these days, she'll find out that I was the true friend. And, it may be too late by then. Who knows. I do have a couple of other friends up here who have been here for me.
One thing I learned from this......Stress does a number on your health. Migraines and stomach troubles...ugh! But, I'm dealing with that, and I am on the mend. Thanks again for all your wonderful words!!!! *smooches*

morningmyst 4-01-01, 03:43 PM Thanks guys....The funny thing is....now she's calling me and everything. But, I have a trust issue now!http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//eek.gif I'm not sure how much of myself to expose to her anymore. I don't want to get hurt again..(funny thing is, my hubby doesn't think I should work on it again...says that she should've told me if there was problems...that's what a true friend would do.) I don't think that I'm going to make any huge effort to keep this alive. If she wants it, she'll have to do it. I'm tired of giving 110% all of the time to something that might not work. THANK YOU! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif I just wanted to say thanks again for letting me vent! You's all are ze best!

I know how you feel Dawn. Went through something similiar about a year ago. I lost a friend over her wedding though. She got mad that I wasn't there. She planned it for mothers day and I didn't have a car at the time. The wedding was an hour away. My mom was originally going to take me, but my brother and family decided to come for a visit that weekend. She was never willing to understand that I couldn't make it with everything else going on. We talked for a few months in the fall, but it never amounted to anything. Too much had happened at that point. It always hurts to lose a friend though. Hope things work out ok for you. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif
