When you were just a teenager did any of your friends push you to do anything and if so what did you do just to fit in?

My 14 year old told me that some of the kids in school are taking 10 motion sickness pills to get high? Has anyone else heard about this?
Was there a must try remedy when you were a kid to get you high?

When I was shipped off the boarding school that's when most of my drug induced days started! LOL  I never knew so many ways to smoke weed! We also used to sniff white out.... put it in a paper bag and then breath with the bag over the nose and mouth like we were hyper-ventilating!! LOL

I wasn't really approached with any of that in school.. honestly.. my husband doesn't believe me because he said drugs were rampant in his school.. but I swear.. I was never faced with that.. guess I was just lucky. I drank alot of beer later in high school.. but no drugs. I didn't even know anyone who did drugs... and I was in the metalhead group!!

I was never pressured or approached to do drugs... they were just all around and i was a) curious to try them, b) they were fun to do at the time

Besides the usual marijuana, hash, hash oil, acid, mushrooms and valium.

the other things we did when we were real young were
sniffing Pam (the non stick cooking spray)
drinking vanilla extract
smoking banana peels (didn't work)
sniffing liquid paper (white out).. The vice Principal came across the PA one day and begged for this practice to stop , he claimed you could die from just one inhalation
model glue sniffing
we bought something from a head shop called Rush, it was another inhalant that was supposed to get you wasted.... I don't think it worked, just made you light headed for a while

All I ever did was smoke weed. I didn't drink or do any other kind of drugs. In high school, anyway :D After high school I dabbled in acid a little.

I don't recall having seen any weird stuff for getting high, though. I hung out with the metalheads & it was mostly just coke & weed. (I never did the coke, though). I know that some people did "whip its" ... breathing in the fumes from the whipped cream cans. That's about it.

Milani, be happy that your 14 year old felt that he could talk to you about that. At least you are "in the know" now! Motion sickness pills, huh? Damn, and TEN of them. Wouldn't that just make them SICK?? I hope I wasn't such a DORK when I was a kid!

The only drug that I was ever pressured into taking was cocaine, but I declined that one. Weed and acid were never pressured onto me, but were just given. :yesnod:

Back in '88, I was offered a cigarette--and was told "It's not like a drug." But I said no; I don't smoke.

Other than that, I was never offered any type of drugs.

I was never really pressured into anything. I tried marijuana a couple times, but it just made me giggle and fall asleep. I make myself giggle and I figured I could sleep anytime. I wouldn't have tried the harder stuff even if it were offered. It was around, just not around me. We did keep the beer vendors in business, though. I had a pin on my jacket that said "Weekend Alcoholic".

In my school you were considered "cool" if you smoked weed and drank. I think there was a lot of peer pressure going on. They even had contests to see who would get laid first and how many times they could do it.

Back in high school I smoked sweet leaf a number of times......mostly with a guy a used to hang out with. I was offered coke once, but never tried it because honestly I was scared that I might like it and go broke trying to support my habit. I popped a few hits of speed, but didn't care for it.

I don't touch the stuff now.

I know I am lucky he told me but the thing is I am just worried about all of the other drugs out there that are so easy to get ahold of. They are easy because I have learned that some of the parents do it and just leave it around so their kids can get it. Now how stupid is that?

OMG!!! Did we go to the same HS? I did all those things, but not because I was pressured --- because I wanted to try them. I knew the what the risks were, and I knew what was illegal & what the consequences would be. I was a policeman's daughter for crying out loud! :D

When I got older I drank, smoked pot & hashish then one day someone I THOUGHT was my friend offered me Cocaine.... But now I am happy to say I only drink alcohol on occasion.

Milani, you should be VERY thankful your son trusts you enough to talk about it with you. That right there is a step in the right direction. I pray my kids will do the same when they get older! You sound like a really great mom. Keep up the good work. ;)

Milani, Be glad your Son can talk to you about that. I was afraid of my Mom. Wow, Dramamine (sp) That was a big one when I was in HS. I never tried it though.

In my HS I was offred every drug under the sun and then some. Tried everyone except for "H". It's so much better to be sober. :)

Never did any of it I have to say, not even smoking!!! Although I may have made up for it with the amount of alcohol I consumed.

There was never peer pressure in school to take anything but once I started clubbing, well that was a different story. I got hassled about taking Ecstacy all the time, even though I never touched the stuff. Because I was the first person on the floor every night, people assumed I was tripping and wanted to buy some from me. And when I told them "no", they thought I was just not selling it to them. Nearly got knifed over it too. That was when I decided that the "Rave Culture" was not quite so nice as it was portrayed. :(

The number one killer of teenagers is:
delusions of invincibility
Milani, consider yourself lucky to have a kid who asks questions first, so many parents don't get that honor.
When I look back I am amazed I am still on the planet.
Unfortunately as long as you have rebellious kids you will always have a drug culture. Some grow up and leave it behind and others carry that baggage into adulthood and pass it down to thier kids.
The internet, as much fun as it is for us, is also a huge contributor now, allowing kids to log on and get all the latest fads and yes even recipes to make them.
There are websites out there that will give any mother nightmares.

I was lucky at High school, I had a bunch of friends who accepted you for what you were and never put any pressure on you to do anything stupid.

At one work place I was at in the late 80s, a lot of the guys I worked with smoked pot and they offered it to me on several occassions at functions outside of work. I always declined and they respected my decision. I used to love watching them make fools of themselves.

I was never really pressured to take any type of drug, or even offered. If I did it, it was because I was interested in it.

I went to a boarding school beginning in 8th grade, and I remember that year, the cool thing was to sniff White Out. Well, at least in my class. So, most of the students would go to the Supply office to get some White out so they could sniff it. The school caught on, and eventually stopped giving it out to kids.

I went to alot of his friends parents and told them what these kids are taking or might be taken. Some were so concerned that they took them for a drug test.
I know kids gets pressured to do things as parents we need to sit them down and talk to them about it.
I am lucky to have a wonderful kid but he has his down side.
He hangs out with those kind of kids and he is a different person.

I agree with what was said about the internet. That is why I control what they look at on here.
