View Full Version : Hall and Oates
Melis9681 3-03-04, 07:17 PM I have this sudden urge to go out and buy one of their albums. I was watching something on VH1 called, "where are they now?" It made me think of Hall and Oates. What are they doing now? Anyway, I went to one of their sites, and is says they have a greatest hits CD coming out March 23. I wonder if they are gonna tour? hmm....

By the way, I also love thier song called, "Justify"
Darrianne 3-07-04, 10:10 AM My sister-in-law is a huge fan. Apparently they have been touring for a couple of years. She has seen them several times in Ohio....once in Michigan and various other places that I cannot remember right now. She always shares her pictures with us. She belongs to a fan club that specifically travels around to their shows.
Just thought I'd mention all that since you asked about a tour. :mwaha:

Hey I just heard the same thing! I have one of their older compilation CD's but I heard the new one will have more on it. I know they have been doing some one-off dates in the last several years but I would love to see them too. I am going to see if I can find their website. KEWL!!
BrandyBlue 3-08-04, 06:48 PM They have remained busy for years, in spite of financial setbacks. They broke loose from Tommy Motola and opened their own label and kept on trucking. Daryl has faired better financially than John because he is more conservative with money--although he has spent a lot of this money on an "illegitimate" child (I hate the term "illegitimate" but that is the legal way of saying it")
I am a fan of theirs from way back
Augerifan 3-15-04, 07:34 AM I went to their official website and saw that they are actually doing a rather large tour this summer. Someone was asking about dates...check out

This will be so great for them to tour along with the release of the Ultimate CD!

Augerifan 3-22-04, 07:26 PM Maybe they will add some dates, BJ. I know it will be a good show. They are not here for several more months so in the meantime I will just listen to their new Ultimate CD to last me!
Bon Jovi 3-23-04, 07:25 PM I Hope So!
Brown eyed girl 5-15-04, 08:03 PM Hall and Oates played here in Columbia in 2002 and I was able to go to the show. My only complaint about the show was that it was too short. However, they weren't "officially" on tour when they came here.
They sounded fantastic and I really enjoyed the show. Too bad I'll miss out on seeing them on this tour. I think they closest they come is Charlotte but it's on a Tuesday and it interferes with my work schedule.
I recommend seeing them if you get a chance.
gfschn01 5-18-04, 12:35 PM Oates bagged my groceries at Kroger. I think Hall had a cleanup on aisle 4 :fight:

That's a lie and you know it! They work at Walmart! I saw one of them there when I was in the States a couple of Christmases ago. ;)
Love Hall & Oates. I have a greatest hits compilation of their's which spans two CDs. So can't see what will be so special about their new greatest hits collection.
I have tickets to see them tomorrow night in Pittsburgh. :)
Nikki_91 8-24-04, 05:30 PM I know they're playing in San Antonio in September with Michael McDonald and the Gap Band. It's supposed to be a great show. I'm trying to obtain tickets.
Sorry, I posted this in the wrong place. Ignoree it. ;)
COOL BREEZE 8-25-04, 12:02 AM I saw Hall & Oates way back at 4th of July concert in the old Tampa Stadium They sounded fantastic live! One of the few bands that sounds even better live than studio! They played after the Beach Boys(Who were awesome too!) Unfortunately, Whitney Houston was the closer before the fireworks! "Supposedly" her plane was late so everyone waited an hour for her to come on. When she finally did she started singing gospel songs.(Not that I don't respect gospel music,I am a christian) it's just that after that long a wait everyone was hot, pissed that she wasn't performing any of her hit songs and getting a more drunk!(A bad combination! :fight: ) Anyway, after the fourth one in a row began to start she was booed off the stage in tears! :bigcry:
10 minutes later they started the fireworks early!
Anyway, getting back to H&O! They recently had a televised concert where fans could call in requests. They had a great since of humor in their responses and showed their tremendous talent with being able to just play any tunes requested incredibly well at the drop of a hat! They do a remake of the old Billy Paul song "Me & Mrs. Jones" that must be heard to be believed! If released this would be a hit again in a second! Filmed in 2003 their is a DVD entitled "Hall & Oates-Live In Concert(A&E Live By Request)"! HIGHLY recommend this concert! :thumb:

Even though it's hard to find and usually a little expense there is a double Greatest Hits CD entitled "Starting All Over Again-Best of Hall & Oates" It is awesome because it has ALL of their hits and some that were not hits that are fantastic! Older ones like "Do What You Want, Be What You Are " and "newer" ones like Paul Young's "Everytime You Go Away" and a personal favorite "Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid"! There also songs with John on lead like the fun "Italian Girls" and MTV video hit "Posession Obsession" and Daryl's solo smash "Dreamtime"!
HERE'S A LINK TO LISTEN (You have to register but this is an absloutely incredible website! Detailed info and play clips from TONS of eighties bands!:
