:bigcry:

I got home from work last night at around 10.20pm to find out that my neighbours dog had killed my cat, I am so upset about it. I have always had pets but this is the first time one of my cats has died, and what makes it worse is that she is the kitten of my other cat Willow and she is looking around for her.

Has anyone been through this before?? I know i will get over it but it is just the way that she died, i didn't get any sleep last night thinking about it and now i am too scared to let my other cat go outside.

Oh Sweetie I'm so sorry to hear about your baby kitten. That is just horrible!! I've never experienced anything like that, but I have had pets pass away, and it's a very hard thing, because they become part of your family. Did you tell your neighbors about what their dog did? What did they say to you? Once again, I'm very very sorry.

Thanks Annette

I was at work when it happened but my housemate was home, the owner of the dog saw it happen - she did try to stop her dog but it is a rottweiler (sp?) and the cat had no chance. She was opening her gate and it came running out and got my cat. She took it to the vet but she died on the way there, i just got home from my parents place where i buried her. It is so upsetting, i have had rabbits die before but my dogs and cats are all older and i have never had any of them pass away. It is very hard. I haven't spoken to her yet, i am waiting for her to come around, thank godness they are leaving in 6 weeks, i am so scared of her dogs.

I have been through this. It is always horriable. Sorry for your loss. :rose:

I keep my cat inside at all times. This avoids any unfortunate incidents like this happening.

I am so sorry for your loss :rose: The safest way to keep a cat is inside just because not all people or other creatures will treasure your animal like you will. This is just awful! You will feel better if you are able to give your little one a funeral and make a serious effort to remember something wonderful about your baby every day--believe me, it helps.

I am so terribly sorry to hear about the loss of your cat, galaga-girl. I have three cats myself, and I cherish them all and would be devastated if anything were to happen to them. Hope you begin to feel better soon... :rose:

Oh I am so sorry. That is a horrible thing to go thru. If you have big, mean dogs next door you might want to consider keeping your kitty in. I know it makes things harder but it might help. It sounds like your neighbor did the right thing anyway...trying to take your cat to the hosp.

:rose: I'm so sorry about your kitten, galaga-girl. I have gone through this when I was a child..my dog killed my kitten, I was devastated, but it does get easier..it helped me alot to bury her close to my house and plant flowers where she was buried.

I agree with the others as well, maybe you should keep your cat inside to be safe. :ghug:

I'm sorry Galaga girl :( I hate big dogs  (I'm using the term "hate" here.. and if there were a stronger word, I'd use it)

Her dog should have been chained up.. and definatly on a leash! I'm with everyone here.. if the kitties can be inside.. all the better!

Sorry for your loss :(

Sorry to hear about your cat, galaga-girl. :rose: I grew up on a farm, and we used to have a dog that did away with all the kittens. :(

Lots of :ghug:s and :rose: es to you, Galaga-Girl. All kittys go to heaven, but mean dogs go to the other place where they get kept in a kenel for eternity.

I'm so sorry to hear that.

I don't think that we've met, but I read your thread and I am crying here. I am a HUGE cat lover, and I am so sorry that you are going through that pain. I lost a kitten to a husky dog...and I saw it happen. I was only about 8 years old.

I am more inclined to think that the irresponsible owners of that dog will...

I'm truly sorry for the loss, galaga-girl. I'd be lost without my boys (a dog and a cat). My thoughts are certainly with you.

Oh sweetie I'm sorry about your loss. Losing a pet can be devastating, but losing one like this must be heartbreaking. (((HUGS))))
I think the owner of the dog should have had her dog on a leash and muzzled. I don't like it when Rotties get a bad rap, because I've met many who are the sweetest things in the world. It's the owners who should be held responsible. I know if I had a Rottie I'd keep him/her on a leash and muzzled anytime I took them for a walk, even if the dog's friendly (well, if I had one they'd definately be friendly, because they would be well trained).
Also, I'm a firm believer of keeping all cats indoors. I know some people will say that cats are outdoor animals, and I can understand if you live on a farm, but if you don't have a farm then keep cats inside. They live longer that way, plus other creatures have a longer life span. :)
Galaga-girl if you ever need someone to talk to feel free to PM me.

I remember my parents cat was killed by a dog several years back. My Dad went to a lot of trouble to set up a cage to trap the dog, but he never did catch it.
