Please Help...

I'm trying to find a compilation mix I used to have back in the 80s. I had it on tape, but it may have been released on CD as well.

The name of the album is "Survival Mix" and it includes songs from The Cure, The Church, and The Smiths, to name a few. The tape came in a metal can and also contained paraphernalia with a "survival" theme.

Please let me know if you've heard of such thing.

I've got that! I thougt I was the only one.

The correct title is "Survival Sampler: SR-1A Sound Rations." It came in a can (I still have mine!) pacakged to look like something you would store in a bomb shelter. (Army Green is the major color used). As far as I know, it has never been released on CD. I believe it was a cassette-only release. I bought it back in 1984, because the music looked cool and the packaging was so original! Here's the complete track listing:

1) The Smiths - "What Difference Does It Make?"
2) The Church - "Electric Lash"
3) China Crisis - "Wishful Thinking"
4) Scritti Politti - "Wood Beez (Pray Like Aretha Franklin)" (12" mix)
5) Carmel - "More, More, More" (7" mix)
6) King Crimson - "Sleepless" (12" mix)
7) Aztec Camera - "Pillar To Post"
8) The Cure - "The Caterpillar"
9) The Bluebells - "I'm Falling" (7" mix)
10) Modern English - "Rainbow's End"
11) The Assembly - "Never Never" (12" mix)
12) Depeche Mode - "Everything Counts" (12" mix)

This tape was my first introduction to The Smiths, China Crisis and Scritti Politti. I think most of these songs are still in print, but some were only popular in England (The Bluebells, Carmel). Now I want to go to the Sire Records website and send them a e-mail begging for a CD release! (I think I'll try Rhino Records as well...)

Thanks, Surlyone.

Please let me know if you have any luck finding that album on CD...I'll do likewise.
