I saw VH1's programme about bringing back old 80s bands and I was wondering, if you were in charge of a show like that, which bands would you like to see play again even if it's just for a one-night gig of two or three songs?

I can think of three right now:

Journey, The Smiths, and The Police.

They're not exactly out of the music biz, but I think it would be unprecedented to get these guys to play as a band for the fans who loved them when they were to-gether (suffice to say, I much much muuuuch prefer both bands over the solo careers the singers took after). I did get to see Roxy Music on their last gig of their world tour. They had not played to-gether since the early 80s (1983 is when they broke up, right?), so that was way awesome (strangely enough, I like Bryan Ferry's solo works as much as RM's...).

Anyone got any bands they'd like to see

You find the best questions to ask! :) I'd like to see Journey reunite, actually. The new guy, Steve Augeri, is eerily similar, but I'd still like to see the originals back in action. :)

White Lion and Glass Tiger, maybe. They each had a hit or two that I wouldn't mind reliving. ;) Maybe they could get together and become White Tiger and just perform all my faves in one show?

I'd have to give more thought to this. :)

I sent the PTB at VH-1 a tongue-in-cheek e-mail recently, saying it would be great if George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley of Wham! could reunite on their show! I think it would be fun! :)

Van Halen need to get back together , not to make a new album, but to do one final farewell tour

They should use both DLR and Sammy,

Let Roth comeon first and do vocals on the old stuff, then he can leave to go do blow and Sammy Hagar can come on stage and do the newer stuff.

I'd love to see Genesis back together. Also, didn't the Go-Go's give it a try recently.

These bands have been mentioned already, but I would like to see them: Van Halen, Journey, The Police.

Two I can think of I would like to see would be Men At Work and the Stray Cats.

I've mentioned them in another thread, but I'd love to see:

Ultravox
XTC
Talk Talk (I wonder how they would get Mark Hollis to come out of retirement)
Spandau Ballet (after the court battle with Gary Kemp I doubt that would ever happen, too much bad blood)
The Slits
X-Ray Spex
Haircut 100

That would be cool. Back in '84-'85, I thought that band was going to be huge. Guess sometimes personalities just get in the way.

The Smiths
Soundgarden
