I am re-posting this message as due to the move it got lost

I am currently planning on going to Disneyworld all the way from Australia maybe in late November early December, i really want to stay at the new 80's building at the Pop Century resort. I am curious as to weather anyone here has been and stayed there??

I have seen some pics at allears.net but most people there stayed in the 60's building so i can't get any info on the 80's building.

I have been to Disneyland before, last year in February, has anyone been to WDW around Nov/Dec?? I am wondering about crowds etc, it is the cheapest time to go for us here according to the travel books i got from the Travel Agents.

Any info anyone can give me is so much appreciated thanks!! :thumb:

You've come to the right place to find out GG. I would recommend staying off property if I was on a budget, which it seems like you are. I only use the hotel to shower and sleep, so it makes no sense to pay through the nose for a room. I usually stay at one of the hotels on route 192 in Orlando. Minutes away from the parks, and WAY cheaper! I've never paid more than $48 a night for a great room...and this year I got an even BETTER price! :D

This is the 9th year in a row I'm going, and I made up a small guide for Tinajo when she went. If you like, I can email that guide to you. She found it useful, you might also.

Let me know....

If I'm correct, route 192 is also known as I-Drive. Tons of hotels there and close to Sea World and Universal. I lived in Orlando briefly. Nov - Dec shouldn't be too busy. Not as bad as other times of the year. Will still be a lot of people there though. Great place to visit though. Hope you have a great time there. :D

Correction Princess, 192 and I-Drive intersect, they're not the same road. ;)

Pagan that would be awesome, i welcome any tips you may have, i was thinking that maybe i will stay 5 nights at a motel close to Universal and Seaworld then stay on-site for 6 nights while we are visiting WDW, it just depends on the quotes i get.

Are the hotels on I-Drive within walking distance to Universal and SeaWorld?? Or do most offer shuttles?

I'm a group Tour Operator and I LIVE in Orlando. I can help.

I 100% agree with Pagan about staying OFF property. Those rooms at Pop Century are just ridiculously over priced for what you get (practically nothing)... no ammenities. Most of the off property hotels offer free shuttles to the parks for their guests, anyway. Hwy 192 (Kissimmee) is your best bet. Look for hotels that have "Maingate" in their name. They are the closest to the Disney parks. May I suggest LaQuinta Lakeside Resort? I put most of my groups there and they have great rates. Also, the Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista. That's a more centrally located hotel that's between the Disney parks and the I-Drive area (SeaWorld/Universal). They also run a free shuttle to the parks.

December is a good time to come down. Crowds aren't bad (unless you travel close to Christmas) and the weather is usually pretty good. (Hey, it's FLORIDA! LOL!) However, parks usually close earlier in slower times. Keep that in mind. I'm talking like 7pm.

If you need any specific info... brochures, phone numbers, etc... just let me know. I'm happy to help (free of charge!!) Definitely have Pagan make a guide for you... he's King of the Parks!!

GG...I'll check my computer at home to see if I still have the guide. I'm sure I do, but if for some reason I don't maybe Tinajo saved it.

If not....go to any online bookstire and get Birnbaum's Guide to Disneyworld. It's the best one out there, and even I've learned a few things from it!!! And that's hard to do, since I'm down there so often that there are workers in the park who know me on a first name basis!:lol::laugh:

You guys are so helpful, my youngest sister and I went to DL last year and we stayed off property, we had a really bad hotel, which is why i thought we would stay on property this time. But if you guys think that they hotels are good and very close then i'll check them out, if it is going to save me a few hundred dollars i will do it.

The price of actually being in the US and doing all the WDW and other park stuff is quite cheap it is the flight that kills me! If i had half a chance i would move to America just so i could go to DL and WDW all the time, i really want to make it a once a year trip for me as i am so passionate about Disney.

Hey KimJoy, you are so nice to offer me free stuff :bouncy: i just bought The Lion King on DVD and inside was an offer to get a WDW Vacation Planning Video, i can't get it because i do not live in USA or Canada, any chance you have the latest one or can get it?? I don't want you to send it to me for free thought, i want to pay you for postage etc. The stuff they give us here in Australian for DL and WDW is really basic and it sucks, in our travel books they give them only one page - not nearly enough to be able to decide what to do.
Let me know ok! :thumb:
