Depeche Mode are due to release their next long awaited studio album 'Exciter'. Downloadable MP3 teasers are available from the official site and they are sounding very nice indeed. There is also some Quicktime movies of the guys in the studio, which are very interesting - especially the one of David Gahan - he's really nervous about the camera and it's hillarious to watch! The band members themselves have been saying that it's going to be the "best Depeche Mode album ever released" - whether they're just saying that as a marketing ploy or to stir up interest, only time will tell. It's a pretty big call to make a statement like that - they have a lot of good stuff! I have faith in them -some of it sounds like Violator http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif

Told my friend, Heather, about this......she's excited! She's a HUGE Depeche Mode fan....in fact, they're coming here sometime this summer, and she's going....even though she'll be about 7 months pregnant.

Thanks for the update Retro Man! I love Depeche Mode and have seen them in concert a few times (and own many of their LP's/CD's and the 101 Video).

Totally looking forward to what they put out next! Will go and check their site to take a listen myself!

Actually, what was the name of the LP that Martin Gore put out in the late 80's (possibly early, early 90's)? There are a few songs on that LP that I would love to get my hands on...but I forget the name of the LP.

Sincerely,
Tracey

RetroMan,

Okay... I had to go look for that Martin Gore song and FOUND IT!!! WOOHOO! It was from the Counterfeit LP he put out (I won't say where I found it... Napster &lt;wink&gt; )... The songs I love from that LP are "Gone" and "Smile In The Crowd"! I used to listen to those two songs repeatedly in college!!

Sorry...but this is the first release of DM I put into my collection after playing it for three or four times...and since then, it stays there...

Compared to other releases like "Violator" or my personal favourite, "Music For The Masses", it is nearly lacking off all trademarks I like about them.
The music is passing by without leaving the faintest marks of recognition, "Dream On" and "I Feel Loved" are the only tracks which barely pass by as "Mode" stuff. The rest is only good for supermarket or elevator muzak...

I hope that they will kick themselves in their respective bee-hinds and release an album next time which will be more appealing.

But maybe I´m just an old fart who is too inclined to classic synth stuff... <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0">
