Lisa brought over this morning, Live Go Go's at Central Park. I was really expecting a train wreck. I was WAY impressed! (Unlike the pizza, LISA!! :yuck:) They were really good, Belinda started to slip alittle towards the end. I dont understand why they put, r lips r sealed and We got the beat at the end. And a Ramone's song at the end. Jane W is still way cute! Thanx Pinky, I enjoyed it! :thumb:
OOOOHHH, and the bass player(cant remember her name) She had that "go go's punk feel still in her"
I really wanna know if any of you saw this or them live on tour. I messed up and didnt!!!

anaheim stadium, fall 1983, david bowie's 'serious moonlight' tour. they were 2nd on the bill (Madness opened). imagine thousands of So Cal fans (those under 23 yrs were there for the openers, the older ones for bowie) swaying/moshing/thrashing about in center field, singing along to every word. a full set for them was a little over 60 mins, including every cut from B&TB.
i was about 10 rows from the barrier, and had absolutely no control over where my body was going.... human surfing, sweat... (thank god the temperature was dropping as the sun went down.)
an unbelievable experience. i'm a huge fan of B&tB (consider it one of the best debut's ever). they were a mediocre (*barely* competent) garage band that encapsulated the So Cal, turn-of-the-decade, beach lifestyle, and they bottled lightning on that 1st album.
here they were, playing in their hometown, in front of their largest crowd. somehow, i could sense that they'd never be able to go backward, nor forward, from that moment. i thought it was their peak... that thin slice of time when they were neither novelties, nor local buzz underground darlings, nor mainstream commercial cheeze-its. significant and special indeed.
also, somewhere out there is a performance vid, of them doing a surprise show at a local high school (just before they went bigtime), and the kids are just bonkers. you can get a sense of the charge they were capable of generating at that time. i remember that one as the 1st time i heard 'surfing & spying'.
good memories...

Yeah, this was a fun one. Any Go Gos fans should take time to view this. I really wish I had caught the live too! Oh well!

My one great regret, I never got to see them live. They never came to SLC.
