I just found out that there are a bunch of 1-hit wonders on the Not Another Teen Movie soundtrack, including Marilyn Manson doing Soft Cell's Tainted Love! I am a big fan of what Orgy did with New Order's Blue Monday, and that song is on this soundtrack too. Another intriguing tune is Stabbing Westward doing Bizarre Love Triangle. I'm very curious to hear what all these hard-rocking bands do with these songs.

Sounds quite interesting... ;)

Does this soundtrack consists solely of coverversions? Would be nice if you or someone else post a tracklist here.

BTW...welcome to this board. :D

I heard Manson's version of Tainted Love on Sunday night. I liked it quite a bit. Different.

Haven't heard the others yet but I'm looking forward to them.

Ok, I managed to track down the song list:

Marilyn Manson - "Tainted Love"
Smashing Pumpkins - "Never Let Me Down Again"
Orgy - "Blue Monday"
System Of A Down - "The Metro"
Stabbing Westward - "Bizarre Love Triangle"
Scott Weiland - "But Not Tonight"
Good Charlotte - "If You Leave"
Goldfinger - "99 Red Balloons"
Mest - "Melt With You"
Saliva - "Message Of Love"
Phantom Planet - "Somebody's Baby"
Muse - "Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want"

Looks like a kick-ass soundtrack to me...

Thanks for submitting the tracklist, blindtiger. I knew some of the tracks already, but will take a look for the soundtrack nonetheless.

Admittedly...I donīt like all of them, or better said, what they did to the originals, too. ;)

Generally, for me thereīs no rule that 'a classic have to be left untouched', sometimes it was the coverversion which led me to the original. At least those artists took the time to listen to the original and spent some thoughts about how it would fit in their own concept instead of ripping a part of the track for being sampled in a track which wouldnīt differ from hundreds of the same if the sample wonīt be featured.

What I meant was that I flucking loathe most artists of the 90s and today...so therefore, I don't like the soundtrack. The artists on the soundtrack were and are popular in the 90s and today, respectively.

I do like music from the early 90s, but that's only because it doesn't sound anything like what 90s music ended up being. For me, "Vogue" by Madonna does not hail from the same decade as "Ray Of Light" by Madonna.

There are some 90s and today artists I like (Pink, New Radicals, some of A Tribe Called Quest's work), but for me, it's 80s all the way.

Sincerely,

Okay...I got your point. ;)

Although the 90s were marking the point of a major drawback in the variety of music since entertainment and other industries took over what was considered to be the 'free' media (especially in the music sector), not everything from the 90īs is automatically bad.

Iīm also not agreeing on the way that some of my favourite artists from the 80s took in the 90s (for example, I still think that Depeche Modes 'Exciter' is the worst release since 'Are People People', the B-side of the re-remixed version of 'Master And Servant'), but if you dig a bit deeper, you will still find some of them who hasnīt changed their style or which had originated in the 90s taking on the sound of this decade.

I just wanted to emphasize that you canīt condemn any artists just because theyīre not from the 80s or performing like that. ;)
