View Full Version : fans of modern synthpop?
ninthwaver 11-21-03, 02:27 PM Any fans of the current crop of bands who sound like the 80s here?

if you would like to hear some very cool "80´s like synth songs" than try " tag und nacht" "time to remember" "aus liebe" from DEARMAX on DEARMAX (http://www2.mp3.de/musik/bands/de/1/292?param=52|52) ( sorry for this commercial break :-) ) or the latest "mondzeit" and " der letzte engel" from DEARMAX 2004 on DEARMAX 2004 (http://www2.mp3.de/musik/bands/de/1/231936?param=52|52)
tell if you like this :-)
AlexBowser 2-04-04, 12:03 AM I've tried listening to modern synthpop, but so much of it just can't compare.
Like... "Freezepop" www.freezepop.com.
I want to throw up. It's just not the same.
Why can't there be more of the same quality stuff being created? Actually that's my goal in life... but we'll see how that turns out.
Linearnetrik 2-08-04, 03:02 AM I like Ladytron, Freezepop, Viva la Fetę, Client, Spillsbury, Capricorns, File not Found, Adult, Celloluide,...
Hurrah Brother 3-03-04, 12:10 PM Ladytron are spot on
John Foxx (Ultravox founder, and solo artist) and Louis Gordon have done 3 LPs together now if originals still going is your thing?
Gary Numan is making something of a comeback too. After years of being desperately unfashionable, he's becoming curiously trendy.
Oh, and don't forget Kraftwerk - on tour again.
best wishes
Huw
p.s. for a modern band, I suppose the French band, Air, is pretty decent. Here in the UK, they provided the theme tune, 'Sexy Boy', for the TV show, "Queer As Folk". If that track had been out in the '80s I'm sure it would have been played at the trendy New Romantic venues such as the Blitz club in London. 'nuff said.... :)
LadyNerys 4-14-04, 04:28 AM I have to say that I found some really good synthpop bands on Audiogalaxy before they went...well, before they went away. You know what I mean. Anyway, some groups I found there are:
De/Vision
B! Machine
Mesh
Elegant Machinery
Echo Image (HIGHLY recommend you try to find some songs by these guys, or contact me if you'd like to hear a few, they do an incredible cover of The Neverending Story!) Look for the "Compuphonic" album.
Regards,
Nerys
Ladytron is probably the more recognizable name out of all. Kids look like something straight out of a CK ad  Catchy schtuff, though.
Air is a personal fave of mine and the older, the better. Moon Safari and Premiere Symptomes are their best. Daft Punk (another French band) isn't too far from them although they're definitely more here than there when it comes to retro sounds.
Most of you guys named some pretty good bands, so all I can do is add to the list of bands to look out for: Neuroticfish, Neuropa, Apoptygma Berzerk, Wolfsheim, and The Faint's Danse Macabre album :)
I'm listening to Ladytron, Adult, Miss Kittin and the Hacker, Goldenboy, Technova, Fischerspooner, The Faint, Tik & Tok featuring Miss Soffy O and Dopplereffekt.
