Have you ever noticed how much influence the saxaphone had on the 80's pop music scene? And did you also notice that when the 80's came and went, so did the saxaphone. It's a instrument that is seldom heard in todays music. Interesting don't you think?

HMMM....interesting and very good observation
You know, Robbster, I never thought of that, but I think you're right.

Yes, I believe your right Robbster. I can think of 80s bands that used a lot of sax in their music. Now? None that come to mind.
Yes, it seems that way. I can't think of one band that uses a horn of any kind, let alone a sax.

Now that you mention it, I can't think of any of today's music that uses a sax. There were lots of 80's songs that used it though.

My sister and I have a saying, "whenever you hear a saxaphone in a pop song, it's definitely from the 80s!". There are countless songs from the 80s with sax solos. And you're right, after the 80s, the saxaphone disappeared (except when Mr.Clinton was running for Pres.)...
IMHO the lack of use of the sax today is a result of the replacement of jazz style with the more modern R&B style in all types of contemporary music. Rock and Roll had it's roots in jazz and blues where as todays music has it's roots in a bigger melting pot. Just a thought!
Where is the sax these days? I never really thought about it, but you're sure correct. What would the end of INXS's "Need You Tonight/Mediate" be without a sax? Music could use a resurgance of brass.
