Who here listened to American Top 40 in the 80's? I would listen nearly every weekend. Now on some select 80's stations they are airing an American Top 40 Flashback show. On my local 80's station 107.7 they play it at 9 A.M. on Sunday mornings. www.ktnd.com (http://www.ktnd.com)

I found a cool site the other day that someone dedicated to American Top 40. You might find this interesting. This is the only way I know of getting there: www.icok.net/~chrisben/at40/index.html (http://www.icok.net/~chrisben/at40/index.html)

Never liked Casey Casem. I used to listen to Rick Dees and the weekly top 40 on a religious basis. He was and still is my idol. I still have all the countdowns I used to write down from week to week.

When I was younger, between '82-'84 I would write down the Top 10 of the week and hang it up in my room. I don't know why I did. I would never miss a countdown. After I hit my teen years I didn't listen as much.

One of our local radiostations used to broadcast the weekly top 40 show with Rick Dees,on sundays, in the early to late mid 90s! I really miss that! <img src="frown.gif" border="0"> Music wasn't all that bad at the time, and Rick is just the best! Lots of funny memories! <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0">

Re: Rick Dees

Yeah, he may be a good DJ, but let's bear in mind that he also created that abomination of a 70s novelty song "Disco Duck" <img src="mad.gif" border="0">

Sorry, I'm not that much of a 70s disco fan. I'm cool now. Just had to get that out. OM.

I used to listen to American Top 40, but I found Casey Kasem too boring, and his Long Distance Dedication way too schmaltzy. I prefered the lunacy of Rick Dees... remember his 80s parody song "Eat My Shorts"? And the ditzy Candy Plastic??? And Gronan Bearit, the gossip columniist. I also enjoyed "Dees Sleeze"... funny stuff...

We got Rick Dees here too later in the 80's but I never really listened to him that much.

Only a few radio stations throughout the US carry AT40 Flashback. The nearest AT40 Flashback affiliate to Jackson, Mississippi is New Orleans' 92.3 The Point (http://www.WCKW.com).

Sometimes, I'm lucky enough to be able to hear that station loud and clear...from Jackson, Mississippi!

I have the 45 for that. The b-side is "Get nekked" which also charted. I also have the album "Stick it where the moon don't shine" It has his Christmas hit "Merry Christmas wherever you are" and it is a serious song!!
