Madonna..now there's someone that got some major airplay in the 80's! I guess the first Madonna song I ever heard was "Like A Virgin". I'm not going to lie..I was a huge Madonna fan in the 80's. I don't really like some of the stuff she puts out now.(ok, so I still am, co-workers give me a hard time when I bring Madonna CD's to work) My favorite songs were "Material Girl" and "Get Into the Groove." Anyone have a favorite Madonna song?

I dunno. I actually have a lot of favorites. I like any kind of music that's upbeat and energetic. She has plenty of songs like that. The ones you mentioned are really good. And ones from the late 80s I'll always remember because those years were alot of fun to me. I was just going to list a few but there are really too many. Even some of her new songs are good (to me). Madonna, like Cher, is one who can make good music in any generation.

I liked 'Live To Tell', 'Get Into The Groove', 'Crazy For You', and 'La Isla Bonita'. I hated Material Girl! Eeyuk! I didn't like her in the very short very blonde hairdo like in 'True Blue'.

Oh man...don't get me going on Madonna http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Last summer I always had that blasting..."tropical the island breeze, all of nature wild and free, this is where I long to be, La Isla Bonita.." http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Then we got Open Your Heart, Into the Groove, Papa Don't Preach, Live to Tell, Who's That Girl, Dress You Up....I'll have it pumpin' this summer too http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif

The first song I heard was Borderline back in 1983. I asked my brother who the artist was and he said "Madonna" pronounced "Madoana" LOL! Obviously later as she became more famous we got her name right. But she was some chameleon when it came her looks. My favourite songs include "Borderline", "Into the groove", "Crazy for you". My brother was madly into her. He used to walk down to the shop with his ghetto blaster on his shoulder with Madonna blasting. This was kind of embarrasing.

'Live To Tell' is (and always will be) my favorite Madonna song. It always stops me in my tracks when it comes on the radio. The song is so well written - the melody - the bridge section in the middle - the childrens choir at the end. I just love her 80's material, critics say she has now 'matured' musically, but I still prefer 'The Immaculate Collection' on my CD tray http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif

Matured musically...that's moral society talking (blah!). I'll stick with the Immaculate Collection over "musically matured" anyday.

Her 80s music was the best, but now and then she has a new song that's good too. Maybe I think it's good because I hear so much 90's crap all the time.

Otherwise, I first heard Madonna with Borderline and Like a Virgin. My Mother used to drive a nursery school bus and blast the stereo. All the kids loved that! And when she stopped driving the bus, everyone was so disappointed. hehe That was a cool, fun little time... (Oh, I was on the bus too)
