Anyone else remember the disgusting trend of medleys in the early 80's that started with Stars on 45?

There was 4 different charted songs credited to Stars on 45. After that....BOOM... medleys were coming out of the woodwork including:
The Beatles movie medley-The Beatles
The Beach Boys medley-Beach Boys
The Elvis medley-Elvis Presley
Hooked on classics-Louis Clark and the Philharmonic Orchestra (Louis Clark arranged all the orchestration on ELO's hits)
Hooked on swing-Larry Elgart
Hooked on big band-Frank Barber Orchestra
Seasons of gold-Gidea Park f/Adrian Baker (a Four Seasons medley)
Platterama-The Platters

I'm sure there were more, I just can't think of them off hand

The style came back in 1989 with the release of "Swing the mood" by Jive Bunny and the Mastermixers Luckily it didn't catch on in the States the way it did in the UK.

You mentioned the two I was thinking of: The Beatles and Stars On 45. There is one I bought on a 45 at the record convention that some radio station had put together somewhere of old Rolling Stones songs from the '60's and '70's.

I thought Hooked on Classic was pretty cool at the time, but in general I can't stand medleys. If I want to hear a song, I want to hear the whole song, not just a snippet, especially when it's mixed in with other songs that I don't particularly like.
