Here's a list of my favorite clubs in the NY/NJ area.
Re:mission!
The longest running 80s newwave, synthpop, alternative night in NYC. It's been going on for six years and has never stopped being amazing. It takes place at the Pyramid on Avenue A every Thursday night. I've met some good friends here and have had some of my best times here. The bar itself, is kinda crappy, but the people & music are what make it what it is.
Downtime - The Batcave
3 dancefloors, 3 floors, 3 bars. The music is gothic/industrial/ebm/synthpop/80s/techno & trance. Saturday nights. They also have shows here too, usually early in the night before the djs start downstairs. This is the BIG saturday night club for the goths & rivetheads.
Qxt's
This one's in Newark, NJ. It's a pretty decent club for NJ. You'll see a lot of NY folks trecking into Jersey to come here. Fridays and Saturdays are Industrial, goth, synthpop, 80s. 2 Floors and they just redid the bottom floor (or basement).
Aldo's
This is more of a bar with a dancefloor than a club. Every Friday is 80's night. They pick a different 80s band to focus on each week. Last time I was there (about 2 weeks ago) it was INXS night. They'll play 4-5 songs from the featured band. The dj always plays something that will totally surprize you. This is in NJ too. So get there early, because the bar closes by 2am.
There's a few other old bars/clubs that are/were pretty good too. I'll try to get around to posting those too.
