View Full Version : The Name Game
If you had your own night club (or a plain old bar) what would it's name be?
The Dew Drop Inn, maybe? The Stumble Inn? Hellzapoppin'? The Come On Inn? The Hot Box? The Time Machine (time flies, you know..LOL)? How about The Liquor's Quicker Picker Upper?
How original could you be in naming your own place? We had some folks around here who named their place 'The Bar'. I kid you not, people!
Roemello 10-12-01, 07:28 PM 'The House of Pie'? LOL...that could be interesting and just think of the misconceptions that could be made about it. I can see someone now coming in for a pie and finding out the pies there ain't fruit filled...  LOL.
If I were to have an night club or entertainment complex though, it'd definitely be called, Spiffy Entertainment :D
Panty Remover! - the gin pours freely and the girls are easy and the men are sleazy (JK)LOL
I can't believe I'd say that :)
The Ice Box, Blue Notes (I love the blues too), ahhh I'm not very creative tonight. Let me think on this one :)
outofplacechild 10-12-01, 10:55 PM If I had a bar, I'd call it Sweety's (as in, only sweet beverages without any alcohol. Soda, milkshakes...Yes, a non-alcoholic bar. You're playing by my rules now, baby!)
If I had a nightclub, I'd call it *BIG!*, and devote it exclusively to music from the late 70s up to 1990. Nothing after that, and I'd make sure to have a varied line-up with plenty of fresh stuff. I would help with the playlist, so don't expect to be hearing stuff like "YMCA" (late 70s), "Love Shack" (late 80s) or "U Can't Touch This" (1990), being as I hate all of them.
Sincerely,
John "outofplacechild" Kilduff

OPC, that's not a bar, that's an old fashioned soda shop, which is a nice idea, but you'd be overrun with brats whose parents have shopping or anything else to do but take care of their kids. But it would keep them off the streets, so as long as you don't mind babysitting, I'm all for it!
Oh!! How about "Out"? LOL Where you going? Out. LOL Or try honesty in advertising, "The Drink and Tinkle". LOL
When my husband was a kid, his mom owned a bar in PA called the Elbow Room. I always thought that was a cool name for a bar.
LOL! That is a cool bar name!! Can anyone think of any others? How about a play on a famous name? Or a game? Like Hook Shots (Basketball themed sports bar).
Not Man 10-18-01, 08:39 PM Well if I owned a bar it would be a bar/casino and it's name would be Liquor in the front....Poker in the rear :D
Or maybe a bar/seafood restaurant called The Bearded Clam
I know I am a pervert  :p
Vilji, Vilji bo-bilji
Banana-fana-fo-filji....
Oops. Shoulda read the posts, not just the heading. :D
There's a pub in Toronto called Scruffy Murphy's. That has a nice ring to it.
outofplacechild 10-22-01, 03:28 PM Okay, so I'm running a soda shop. Sounds good to me. I'd make sure it appeals to everyone, though. Hell, I'll throw a few Pac-Man machines in the back. See what happens!

Add coffee and some computers, and you have a new age coffee shop!! I just heard a movie mention a place like "Sweety's" for grown ups, so I guess that could work. Around our little town, though, it would just be a place for the kids. In New York the outcome would be completely different.
wavemaster 10-22-01, 07:28 PM I´ve actually thought about opening a bar/club in the last years, but since I have no sufficient funds and not the slightest inkling of how to run such a place, only the thoughts remained.
It hast to be either 80´s style or a hangout for all the lovers of electronic music in general...how´s "The Wave Cave" sounding? :)
Chrisscross 10-26-01, 01:43 PM About two years ago I had a sort of bet with one of my best friend's ex partners who was convinced she could make a lesbian of me. The deal came about when I started hanging out with my friend at her favourite gay night club every Friday night. My friend's ex was planning on opening a pub and the deal was if I don't turn into a lesbian in three months I would get the pub. My friend who's known me for ages immediately cheered and we started planning the whole thing, like what we'd name it, what kind of music we'd play and so on. We couldn't decide on a name either. Too bad it was just a joke. It would have been one hell of a way to get the deeds to a pub. :D
Nage
Ted Nugent 10-26-01, 07:55 PM If I could legally open a bar it would be a lez bar in the back woods of Maine called "The Beavers Den". lol :)

Like a natural Bogie. :D

My bar would probably be...
"the Pina Colada Song"
or "the Copa"
and I'd have that cheesy Barry Manilow "Copa Covana" song playing a lot.
"Her name was Lola.
she was a show girl."
There's been some pretty kewl names for bars here in this forum. Here in my town in fact we have a bar called The Elbow Room.
If I owned a bar, I might call it "Wet Lips Lounge" or the "Dry & Thirsty".
Roemello 11-24-01, 05:38 AM Just thinking about the oddball restaurants and bars around this town...yes, these do exist here..lol, "In a Pigs Eye", "Red Raven's Love Noodle" (I still can't get over that one..LOL) and a fast food spot called "Happy House"...guess that's for quickies  :D
Roem, you'd have to name your place the 'Pie Palace'. LOL Or 'Tongue-In-Cheek'.
I could name mine 'Angel's Heaven'. LOL Or 'The Broken Halo'. LMAO! I like that one!
Big Night Clubs...
Rage Cage
Pub - The Green Kettle
I always thought that a good name for a bar or nightclub for depressed people would be The Sorrow Drowner.
I actually like the name of a particular bar in the classic novel "Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy" (Or one of the books in the series) The Evildrome Boozerama. That name always appealed to me for some reason.
Trixter 12-02-01, 03:25 PM I would call a bar:
The Spirits in You
The 80s haven :)
And i wouldnt have anything in it that was newer than 1989,it would be TOTALLY 80s :)
