View Full Version : Biz Markie
80sTrivia 6-10-01, 07:35 PM Does anyone remember this dreadful early rapper and his classic of wretchedness "Just a Friend"? Surely goes down as one of the worst songs of all time...

Poison PJ 6-11-01, 11:17 AM Hey, Watch It Dude, Me & Some Friends Won A Talent Show Cause Of That Song, So I Can't Be All That Bad.
djdaffy1227 6-11-01, 01:03 PM I have Biz's greatest hits. His best song was "Pickin' boogars" he was one of Big Daddy Kane's boys and he did a lot of work with The Beastie Boys. Other classic tunes by him were "Vapors", "It's spring again", "Play the beat with your mouth Biz", and so many more. The C.D. is called "Biz's baddest beats"
Roemello 6-11-01, 03:01 PM We had fun in my neighborhood screamin' that song out...it was a riot at the time...lol
Sal Collaziano 6-12-01, 10:35 AM Heh. I do understand where MDC is coming from, though. That voice of his was a little wacky! Yooouuu.. Got what I neeeeeeed.. But you say he's just a friend... hehe
It turned out to be a very popular song here in New York. I never knew he had anything to do with Big Daddy Kane or the Beastie Boys. Big Daddy Kane was cool - my favorite from him was, "Warm It Up, Kane". My favorite Beastie Boys album was, License to Ill"...
djdaffy1227 6-12-01, 03:18 PM Oh high exalted one,
Rhino records just recently released a Big Daddy Kane greatest hits. A very good collection of his stuff. Amongst other songs, it includes "Ain't no half steppin'", "I get the job done", "Warm it up Kane", "Rap summary (Lean on me)", and "Very special". The only song I know of not on here is "Long live the Kane".
Sal Collaziano 6-12-01, 06:07 PM Thanks, Daffy! What's, "Long Live The Cain" like? An anthem kinda thing like Warm It Up?
djdaffy1227 6-12-01, 07:50 PM It's just him bragging about himself. Suprise, an 80's rap artist bragging.
I think the only reason this song made it fairly far in the charts is because everyone was amused at how badly he really did sing... He sounded kind of like a cat in heat.
Roemello 6-13-01, 03:02 PM So did all of us as we imitated it all through the streets and at school...lol I forget which, but I know one of them skit shows did a parody on that song that was quite amusing...
Hurricane 7-13-01, 01:43 PM Maybe someone could help me. Does anyone remember the song Biz Markee did with Diamond Shell? It was their version of "O What A Night", by the 4 Seasons. I'm having a really hard time tracking that song down. Any help would be appreciated.
sarasunshine 7-20-01, 06:45 PM Ron..maybe you should repost your message in the Where Can I Find This Song? file. You would probably get a quicker answer to your question. Sorry I don't know what song it is you are talking about. I do remember a cool song by Biz Markie that no one mentioned. I think it was called "It's Spring Again" I really liked that one.
