I'm currently compiling information for a book to be published in 2002 on rock & R&B sequels -- songs that are followups, in some sense, to previously existing songs (by the same artist or not). Examples include: Ashes to Ashes, David Bowie's followup to Space Oddity; Sequel, Harry Chapin's followup to Taxi; Little Marie, Chuck Berry's followup to Memphis, etc. Are you aware of any connections along these lines? Any assistance I receive will be credited in the book's acknowledgments.

I see that your message is posted under Rap & R&B so I am assuming that you are including those music categories. Rap has had many examples of this type of action. There was the Roxanne related series. L.L. Cool J and Kool Moe Dee went round and round several times. If you are interested in further details just let me know.
