I'm trying to remember a particular song - it went something like "you can deal with this or you can deal with that, you can deal with this cuz this is where it's at". Those words might be wrong but if you recognize it please reply and let me know the song title and who sings it! Thanks.

That song would be, "The Choice is Yours" by Black Sheep.

"Only the meek get pinched. The bold survive."
is that from the eighties? i think not...
well never mind it's a great trakk...
btw, many ppl use OLD SCHOOL in the sense of anything from 1979 to 1988.
To me, it looks a bit difrnt:
1979 - 1985 Old School
- Sugarhill Style with Live instruments (Sugarhill, Treacherous Three, on the west coast; Rappers Rapp Group and so on)
- Electro Style (electro funk and so on)
(Planet Rock by Afrika Bambaataa, Egypt Egypt by Egyptian Lover)
1985 - 1988 New School
Run DMC (well, they're still old school in many ways, but with Sucker MCs and Peter Piper they were a major influence and also part of the new school) Beastie Boys BDP Marley Marl MC Shan Big Daddy Kane
(During this time, also Gangsta Rap emerges: Schooly D,Ice T)

The song is from 1990. It missed the 80's by a year.
see... well, it's certainly not typical of the eighties. it's typical of the flavor unit, and this posse (LATIFAHs posse, actually) was well 98 to mid eighties or so (do they still exist?) NATIVE TONGUES... Black Sheep, Tribe Called quest, De La... those groups are typical of 98-93 maybe, but not the 80s
but never mind.... lets not be dogmatic!
