I'm desperately trying to find an old-school song.
Unfortunately, I have no good information for a search engine. Key components were:

It ended with strange, high-pitched, modified voices saying, "Hey, Murgatroid, let's go... let's go... let's go..."

It was a rapper talking about a competition with superman, I THINK. Definitely a competition.

If anyone could tell me the name or candidate artist of such a song, I'd be REALLY grateful! Please e-mail me.

THANKS!

That song kicked ass! It was called "Jam on It" by Newcleus I believe. Cosmo D vs Superman...what a concept http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif Only in the 80's! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//biggrin.gif

There's absolutely nothing wrong with it from the 80's and early 90's....today it's horrible, but it was great in it's earlier years.

You're absolutely right, Roemello. In the 80's, rap was all about the music. Now it is all about the message and I just don't like the message it is delivering.

I know...not only was it fun for listeners, but fun for the performers too. They didn't need to swear every 3rd word to get their point across. Another thing is, the beats were fun and electric. Today, their all down, dull, and completely oversaturated with bass (granted, I LOVE bass, but there is such a thing as too much to the point you can't hear anything else in the song http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//tongue.gif).

c'mon that's not true at all! there are so many styles today... hey, i too feel kinda nostalgic when it comes to eighties hip hop, course some of my all time favourites are from the eighties, eg power by ice t, planet rock by afrika bambaataa, early beastie boys and PE (yes, the rhythm the rebel...) just bought a CD by Pretty Tony recently... he also produced those cool freestyle songs... but back to rap TODAY. listen to the Black Eyed Peas for ex., no gangsta flava in it...
quite the contrary, they're talking about the old skool all the time, lots of melodies.. well, some ppl
would probably call it Alternative Rap. what's funny about groups like BEP or Pharcyde is that they're talking about this old skool stuff, but musically they're less progressive in a way, they use more live instruments (sure, that was part of early rap like sugar hill too, but rather for other reasons!), they're more melodic (esp.BEP)... BEP also made a new version of Planet Rock (called Go Go), it's nice but it shows how progressive that track by afrika bambaataa was... i mean,. bam was in a way much more progressive musically, with those electronicv flavaz
