After five years Bon Jovi finally came back to Montreal. I think they regret last night being gone for so long. The reaction they got from 15 000 faithful fans was bigger than the BackStreet Boys ever had with 60 000 screaming girls (I'm not making this shit up, they really wrote this in the papers). Before I start reviewing the show, I have to say that there were a few reasons I wasn't able to enjoy the show 100%: #1 was that the two people that were supposed to go with me couldn't make it. #2 was that I had recieved extremely bad news from Blue, so I was lonely and depressed.

OK, now for the show: The opening sucked. Less Than Jake was horrible. The awful way they 0played their istruments screached my ears and we couldn't understand anything from the singer. Barely any applaudes for them. And what's with that asshole all dress in red with a damn clown head jumping every where? Is he even in the band?

After patiently waiting half an hour after being tortured by Less Than Jake, the lights went down, the screams started. The crowd was reved up, they wanted Bon Jovi. Elevator music started playing (the intro to One Wild Night if you have Crush) and what do we see on the giant screen? Bon Jovi waiting in an elevator. Jon making funny faces at the camera obviously quite bored. Then, the elevator finaly reached destination and the doors opened. Shouts from 15 000 fans rings in my ears. Women sounding like they were being tortured (including me). The guys take their places, Tico with his drum set, David with his keyboards, Hugh picks up his bass and Richie his guitar but Jon stands infront of the elevator, raising his arms, making the crowd scream more. And BOOM! We are sent into One hell of a Wild Night!

Every song got reactions from the crowd. Special Livin On A Prayer which I think got the most. It was a very emotional concert. The fans and Jon constantly interacting. The fans singing, encouraging the band to continu. It was more than words can describe. Everyone was well into the concert. I especialy found it spiritual when they played I'll Be There For You. Tears came down my cheeks as the stadium did the backing Ooohhhh Ooohhhh Oh (well you know what I mean, at the end of the song). And when Jon sang at my surprise Runaway after promissing he wouldn't anymore but don't be fooled, the song was changed and now became a slow and very beautiful song. made me cry.

What reved up the crowd too, was when Jon would stop to talk to us. About a special story of his kidnapping, and how you can take the boy out of Jersey but you can't take Jersey out of the boy. But, one of my favorite parts, and of many other women, was when Jon said these words: "We come back after five years to find out what? That you have replaced us with boy bands??? Well let me tell you something, Bon Jovi ain't no boy band, we're a MAN BAND!!!" Damn straight Jon!!!
Ok, I think I have a whole novel here. Well, in general, THE SHOW ROCKED!!!! That was one hell of a first concert and deffinetly not my last!! If ever Bon jvoi comes in your town, do get tickets, you will not regret it. Many non-Bon Jovi fans at the show completly changed their minds after it. This was the experience of my life.

Hi Amy! Well, first some technical stuff. This is a good topic for the Concerts section. I saw you post a message there about it - it's actually better for there. So, if you get a chance can you move it there? I didn't wanna move it on ya - it's your post to do what you want with! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//tongue.gif This section is mostly for album reviews and stuff..

Otherwise! You gave Bon Jovi one excellent review! It certainly makes me wish I could have gone. I mean, I'm not a big Bon Jovi freak or anything! But it sounds like he played a lot of great songs.. Not JUST the new ones. I like a lot of the old ones... If I ever hear of the band coming close to Long Island, I will go - especially after your review. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif Thanks much...

Glad you like the review. Many non-Bon Jovi fans have been turned into BIG fans after the show. It's worth seeing for anyone, fan or not.

I just saw Bon Jovi in Philadelphia in November and it was my favorite concert of the year. My two favorite singers are Bruce Springsteen and Bryan Adams, but Bon Jovi toppped them off I thought in concert. I love the opening song "One Wild Night". They better release that as the next single.

Yeah, One Wild Night would make an excellant single. And Bon Jovi have always been known for being great performers. Just like Jon always said "We're a bar band that just plays big bars"
