I had a scare last night and most of today. My mom suffered a stroke and is in the hospital at the moment. She woke up yesterday morning not being able to speak normally. Her speech was slurred. She didn't really think anything serious of it until later in the afternoon when she was still talking that way. My stepdad took her to the hospital and at first they thought it had to do with her high blood sugar level (she is Type 1 diabetic). Later testing found out that she must have suffered a stroke overnight. She spent the morning having various tests and an MRI. She will be at the hospital for at least 3 days or longer.

I am very scared right now because her blood pressure isn't coming down, her blood sugar is through the roof, and her heart beat is slow. My mom has had lots of close calls in the last 10 years especially such as congestive heart failure and a loss of use of one of her kidneys. All I ask is everyone keep her in your thoughts, prayers, or whatever you do or believe in. This place is one of the very few things keeping me from breaking down right now.

Oh Stacy, I am really sorry to hear about this!! Believe me, I can totally relate to your Situation - My Mother was a Type 2 Diabete and was In the Hospital for it before she died!! My thoughts and Prayers are with you and your Mom :ghug:

Well I received good news this afternoon...my Mom is getting to come home. Her blood pressure is down and so is her blood sugar. She is feeling a bit better as well. I know when I went to see her in the hospital last night she was in better spirits. So, I feel a lot better. :) Thanks everyone for your prayers, thoughts, and good vibes. :rose:
