I needed the right clothes. I knew that one day my mother would buy me new clothes. Clothes that I knew were not hand me downs. I could however done without the second hand me down book bag.

Wow, I thought school was starting early here, and we've got about two more weeks.:eek:

I hated going school clothes shopping with my mom because she always wanted to get me cutsie clothes :yucky: when all I wanted was jeans and t-shirts. I still can't stomach going clothes shopping for myself. I have this little voice in my head telling me that I should get the nice grown-up clothes, but I still want jeans and t-shirts.:rolleyes:

I loved shopping for school supplies 'tho...still do. New blank notebooks, folders, pencils, pens make me smile.:) One of my favorite things was when I'd get a new textbook and we'd have to take it home and cover it. I would use a paper grocery bag, and spend the semester decorating it. Folders were the same way. Each one would take on its own personality. I still have a couple of book covers and notebooks from high school that I kept because of the fun memories that are doodled all over them.:) OK, now you all think I'm really weird.:goofy: :lol: :p

No, ABC, you're not weird. I covered my books with the grocery bags, but was never very creative. Mostly I just wrote the subject and maybe I wrote something like jen luvs (insert name here). LOL Maybe added some hearts and flowers. But, Steff draws and really gives her book covers and folders personality. So, I see a little bit how you must have been then. :)

I loved school clothes shopping. Me and my friend Allison would go to San Francisco every August and do our shopping. That was my favorite part of back to school.
I could have done without orientation, registration, and teachers who gave out homework the very first day back! :p

I loved shopping for school clothes! My mother was really cool about letting me pick out my own clothes. I remember in the early 80's I HAD to have designer jeans, esp. Jordache ;)

Then in the mid to late 80's, my best friend and I would go down to Georgetown to do our school shopping. I HAD to have cool outfits and even cooler shoes to match. We had a store in G-town called "Commander Salamander" and they had the best punk rock/new wave clothes :D

As for school supplies, I was very anal about my stuff. Everything had to be extremly organized and as colorful as possible! I also would cover my books in paper bags, then get in trouble in class for doodling all over them :p. (abc, I envy you! I wish I had some of my old book covers!)

I think the one thing I hated the most about going back to school was the homework. For some reason, the teachers in my HS would always give homework on the first day of school! :mad:

OMG! I totally forgot about Commander Salamander! That was the coolest store!!! I guess it's all gone now 'huh?

I think school strated at the end of August. I always looked forward to going up to the school and seeing who's room I was in. I did not need to ahve anythng. As long as I got some new clothes I was happy. We made do with what we had. I could have done without them damn 3 ring binders. Plus i hated the smell of new clothes. I would wash mine like 3 times before I wore them.
I used grocery bags also,even used the comic pages. Our school handed out book covers. Usually with the footbal season on them. I would turn mine over and use the blank side. Like all girls in school, the covers were decorated with girly sayings. :lol:

Actually, it's still there. But it's not as "cool" as it used to be ;)

I felt like I was going back to school last week.. I don't go out and buy new clothes too often.. but it had to be done.
I've been losing weight and had to buy new clothes over the weekend (much cuter I might add) and it was like high school all over again.

I used to hate going clothes shopping for school.. I hated shopping period!! Used those grocery bags too.. I remember we would go through the books and see who had them before us.. because sometimes you had to write your name in the front.. then there were also times when people would write stuff in them...

I loved getting new school supplies for some reason.. and putting everything in my bookbag the night before :lol: that's so odd!!

I had to have new "Pro-Keds" every year, and on every book I needed to have a new, crisp, blank bookcover and my own hand-drawn "KISS" logo on it. :D
