View Full Version : I Am Just Upset Right Now and Need To Vent

This is going to be long so bear with me. I just found out this afternoon that the members of Hydra-70 decided to fire Bryan as their guitarist. It is basically because of the singer and his attitude. Bryan showed up to every practice, played his parts, and picked up on songs faster than any guitarist that band ever had (that is coming from their own mouths).

From day one their singer, Jad has seemed to not like Bryan for some reason. Jad for one a total solo hater. Bryan wanted to add some small solos to a song and every time Jad would shoot them down. No one else in the band would. What do you expect from a guy who loves groups like Godsmack? All of the other guys in the band liked Bryan.

Jad lately has been showing up to practice and making excuses why he can't sing. He claims his throat hurts, etc. Last night he brings 5 people to rehearsal and doesn't even sing when the group is practicing. He is too busy partying. He has even went as far as to say he is only in this band to make some money. (Sad, because he should be in it for the love of the music.)

What I can't understand about the other two members of this group Tim (the bass player) and Greg (the drummer) is how they put up with Jad's s**t! Both of them are wimps and will not stand up to this jerk. Today, Greg was the one that was voted to make the call to Bryan to let him know he was not in the band anymore. Come to find out it was Jad's idea to vote for Bryan leaving the band (which does not surprise me one bit). Greg was the only one in the group that stood up for Bryan and was against him being out of the band. But of course, majority rules 2 to 1.

I am probably more upset than Bryan is right now. You have to understand, I have watched Bryan for the last 4 years try to find a solid band to play with and every time either he can't find members to create a band or something strange like this happens. You always hear people say, "Never give up on a dream", but it is hard to keep going when you dreams always keep getting shot down.

It is getting harder and harder to find musicians in this town. Since the high tech boom of the mid '90s, lots of musicians have left Austin because the cost of living has skyrocketed due to all of the out-of-staters that moved here. This is supposed to be "The Live Music Capital of the World" (at least that is what they say) but it just doesn't seem like it anymore.

If you have gotten this far, thanks for reading. I just had to vent.

The singer should've been given the boot.... from the sound of it, he's got no passion, drive or dedication. To me, that equates to being worthless to a band.

Sorry to hear things didn't work out, but with an assclown like that singer in the band, Bryan's probably better off not being with that group.

This is par for the course Stacy. I've been busting my ass for 27 years now trying. You get used to it almost.

Tell him not to feel bad...I once got thrown out of a band that I formed, named AND wrote all the songs for....and Gregg was one of the ones who fired me! Now we're playing together again.

It's not the end of the world. Tell him I wish him luck, he'll find someone. Us musicians always do. ;)

Hey Pagan!... YOU'RE FIRED! oh.... wait a minute.... I'm not in the band anymore. http://websmileys.bei.t-online.de/lachen70.gif LOL!

Stacy... I'm sorry to hear the news. I know it's frustrating but it may be for the best. I think all things happen for a reason. Bryan may be destined to find a better band. Just tell him to keep at it. ;)

A reputation like the lead singer is developing won't go unnoticed...and if they ever do make it, they may find that no amount of talent is going to get a record company to hold on to a lazy band. What goes around comes around...believe it!

Maybe Bryan would find a better, more stable band if y'all made a move? What about California or Tennessee?

I'm sorry to hear the news Stacy. Like Pagan said, he will find another group that he will 'gel' with one day ;)

Unfortunately there are 'Jad' like people out there, I usually try and avoid people like that. I agree with Roem, if he doesn't share the same vision as the rest of the band and is only there to show off to his 5 friends and party all the time, it should be him looking for a new band that does!

It sounds like that jerk Jad has Kevin DuBrow disease. Too much ego.

Sorry to hear about what happened, Stacy. My thoughts are with Bryan. He'll find something better.

Ohhh, I'm so sorry Stacy!

If you ask me, it sounds like Jad is a F***king hypocrite. I hate it when people do that! It reminds me of when I was fired from a job just cause the manager's daughter hated me and told him all these lies about me being lazy. There's just no justice in the world, I tell you.

Sounds like pure jealousy to me. On the other hand, and this is not to defend Jad, you can be passionate about the music and be in it for the money, but certainly not the way Jad is doing it because he is not doing both. Heck, you got to be putting food on the table, right?

We call it "LSD" Molly....Lead Singer Disease. Unfortunately, alot of singers become Prima Donnas, that's why we slap Anthony around every now and then to bring him back down to earth!

Sorry to hear about that Stacy!!! He's better off not being in the band. With an attitude like the lead singer has, it's possible that band may be no more in the future.

Why is it always the singer? I've heard of this happening so many times...

It's funny that you mention Tennessee. Bryan lived in Nashville part of his teenage years and loved it. Surprisingly there is a metal scene (at least when he lived there) there and it isn't just a country music city. I stayed there for two weeks once myself for a job training thing I was doing for Dell Computers. I loved it too! There are two things that keep me here in Austin, Texas:

1. My parents - both of them are getting up in age and I worry about the both of them. I don't want to get somewhere and can't afford to come back if something was to happen to one of them.

2. My job - I have a pretty good job now with good benefits and I would hate to leave it. In this day and age with layoffs and stuff it is hard to find a good job.

It is something to think about though.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I think I will take my copy of the CD this afternoon and have fun running over it with the car.

Now why would you want to do that, Stacy?

That CD is the result of Bryan's hard work and perserverence. To destroy that would be to erase what he accomplished. Keep it and be proud that he was a part of it. Or...if you have two copies, destroy one and keep the other. :D

Pagan, he didn't even play on that copy of that demo. The guitar parts of it were recorded by the bass player of the group months before Bryan even joined. They were supposed to go later and record him playing, but they never did. Hey, Bryan feels the same way I do about it.

Stacy, you should be glad Bryan wasn't involved in the CD. ;) My hubby listened to it today and said the lead singer wasn't very good in his opinion....he said it sounded like he was constipated. I don't know if that'll make you feel better, but my husband loves that kind of music. He said the music was good, but Jad ruined it....

I never thought he was that good of a singer as well. Especially on the "Mary Jane" song. Bryan says that Jad has a problem singing from his throat instead of his diaphragm. That is one of the reasons his throat hurts him a lot and he chooses not to sing in every practice.

Ah...okay. When you were offering copies to people I figured that he was on it! In that case.....smash away!

Sorry to hear about Brian's situation, Stacy, but Brian may be better off without the band. They won't go very far with Jad leading the way anyway. If the other two band members ever grow some rocks, they might get rid of Jad after awhile and want to start again with Brian, if not, Brian may still find other musicians that hold the same passion and work ethics as he does and he'll know this happened for the best.

So sorry to hear about this Stacy! I know you were really excited when he got into this band. I'm glad he has to for support.

Stacy,

Only just read this and I'm sorry to hear about it. Bryan sounds like a guy on a mission and people with that sort of drive usually succeed. It's the bands loss and they will realise that in time.

Sorry to hear about Bryan's troubles, Stacy. It seems as if there's always some kind of drama going on when you are a member of a band. Hopefully, he will find a new band to play guitar for soon. :)
