Last Night I saw Melissa Etheridge. I have always been a VERY marginal admirer of hers. She is a terrific songwriter, but I never cared for her voice. Well, on this tour, she is playing by herself, just her and a guitar. Occasionally she would use an electric guitar, and for 3 or 4 songs she would play the piano. Absolutely Fabulous concert. Her voice is SO much better live than on record, and her interaction with the crowd is fantastic. She actually was talking to several audience memebers from the stage, and having a genuine good time. Everybody at the show was happy and in a great mood, and singing along, and I actually knew more songs of hers than I thought I did.

Hilight of the night, she played "This Land Is Your Land" complete with video of american flag waving. The entire crowd was singing along.

Great show! If she comes to your town, by all means, go see her.

Oh, I forgot to mention the ABSOLUTE best part. I got 2 tickets for free, just for being in the Navy. So I got to see a great show, and didnt have to pay a dime.

Actually Jasper she did start out in the 80s and I liked a lot of her songs back then. A friend of ours had a tape of her's in 1988 - that was when I started hearing about her :)
