Okay...I figure that most of us (unless we were drunk out of our minds) remember our 21st birthday...

Surprisingly enough, I remember mine...and I WAS drunk out of my mind!

It was May 18, 2002, and my brother-in-law and a couple of his friends told me that they wanted me to check out a bar with them, so I said, why not?

Turned out the bar was a strip club!

Now, before I go on, I should let you know that this was my first experience with entering a strip club. I didn't know what to expect and I was a bit nervous. I mean, I was 21...legal (well, since I'm Canadian, I was legal since I was 19)...and it's not like I hadn't seen...well, you know...before...but, going in for the first time to one of those places was a bit nerve-wracking.

After about 10 Mike's Hard Lemonades, I sort of eased into the ambience of the place. ;)

I think I eventually got home that night around 2:00 am, where I promptly zonked out in the bathtub!

And, amazingly enough, I only had a mild hangover! :D

So, how was your 21st? I realize my experience was a bit...um...sleazy  , but don't let that defer you from responding!

I thought I was the only one! June 3rd, 1995. I learned quite a few things that night. One was that i'll never be able to touch Malibu Rum EVER AGAIN!!! My friends threw me a huge bash. We drank and drank and drank some more. My friend Trish (designated driver) got the great idea of going to Mikes Roastbeef to get food. BAD IDEA!! They got me in the back seat of her cavelier. My firend Tricia drives like a maniac! I remember sitting in the back seat looking out the window thinking "wow, she's going really fast but stuff's standing still" Then I remember getting out of the car and getting very very sick. I woke up the next morning in my bathtub with my mother holding the shower head over me.

There were other memeorable moments, but i'll save those for the LL ;)

I can't remember a thing about my 21st birthday. I just remember that it was in 1994.

October 14th, 1995 was when I turned 21. Was stuck taking my cousin who was 4 at the time to Chuck E Cheese.

I went out that night though with my sister to a bar and downed a few beers

I don't remember doing anything special, since 19 is the legal age to drink, 21st birthday were no big deal. I know it was October 4th, 1986, so I was in university

My 21st wasn't that big a deal for me. Legal drinking age was 18 at the time.

I didn’t want a big party, so all my friends and I went out for dinner at a buffet restaurant, then went to a bar after that. Then we went onto a nightclub. None of us ended up drunk.

I turned 21 on October 16,1992. I was living in Charleston, South Carolina at the time. My ex-husband took me out to a nice restaurant that night and we got to have drinks. Nothing all that special.

Mine was March 31, 1997, on Easter Monday, mind you. One of my co-workers turned 21 the same day I did so we went out with my year-older friend and his gf, who wasn't old enough but had a fake ID. Since it was a Monday, nothing obviously was going on as far as night life. We started early afternoon and I was home in bed, sober by 11pm. My friend and his gf started fighting so it was time to go home. I was so bummed, I had been waiting forever for that day to come and it wasn't even anything memorable. I did come home to my parents that night and my mom got up to give me a teddy bear she found with my name on it tho, so that was really sweet. I still have it.

I only turned 21 two years ago!

Here in Australia, we can drink legally at 18 so 21st birthdays aren't as big as they are in America. I am not a drinker anyway, i just had a family dinner!

My 21st birthday (August 4, 1991) seemed to be just another birthday for me. Turning 21 seemed to have no effect on me. I think certain members of my family had still considered me immature at that time.

i'll never be able to touch Malibu Rum EVER AGAIN!!!

Me too!!! But I think that was after my 21st Birthday. It had to have been because the friend I drank it with was a year younger than me!

It was 1990 and I spent my 21st birthday in my home town of Honolulu: first at a Chinese restaurant which I can't remember the name or location of with a group of friends. Then we went dancing and I may have bought a cocktail there because now I was "legal" and could do that. There was this really cool club that was a mix of New Wave and Goth that was "joined at the hip" with this other club that played top 40 dance music. (I know, odd concept.) Then we went back to one of my friends apartments and had loads of Midori Collins' and watched Less Than Zero because I was dying to see that. And I never quite got sick. I drank enough to feel really nauseous and miserable later on, though and have a nasty hangover the next day. (Sigh!) Those were the days.

All I can remember was that I was drinking on Bacardi 151. After that the rest is just a blur. I didn’t have a hangover the next day. I usually don’t get hangovers.

I turned 21 during the first gulf war. Luckily we were in port, and I got to go out with some friends and have a few drinks. Not the best place on earth to celebrate your becoming a full fledged adult.

I was already a steady fixture in the NY rock club scene... my band was playing three nights a week, so I didn't need a day job. I was the living cliché of "sex, drugs & rock n' roll" back then. ;)

I had been married for 5 years (yes, married at 16 the first time) and I was spending my days working at a supermarket and my nights and week-ends singing in a band. I loved it.

hmmmm....that was a long time ago! It was 92' I seem to remember being away at college. Im sure it was a celebration albeit shortlived as I was working feverishly on a "D" average!....heheh. However, if I had not flunked out and went to a university in my home city, I never would have met my wife! silver lining thing eh!

Yep I remember my 21st, it was September 11, 1998 (yep 9-11 is my birthday :irked: ), and my ex fiance had just broken my heart into a zillion pieces the month before, so i flew up to Rhode Island (after having my ID changed here in Baltimore lol) and my best friend at the time picked me up and we went back to her house in Massachusetts to get ready for a night of going out. I got wasted off my first legal drink, LMAO, I hadn't had anything to eat that day and my first legal one was a HUGE Mudslide with about 90% Absolut in it LMAO I was flirting with some old guy (I get very flirtatious when I have been drinking lmao), and we went to another bar where I was totally blasted before we even got there. I wanted to talk to some cute guys that were there, but she kept pulling me away from them :irked: I do not remember the car ride to that second bar OR the car ride home, LMAO God it was so much fun!! And the BEST part is I had NOOOOO Hangover the next day, it was GREAT! LOL
Love,

I was going to school in Baltimore. Wound up drinking countless Bud Light cans, (30 packs were the king of coolness in my dorm) before going out to a bar that night. Then, while I proceeded to continue with the beer drinking, I started to wash those down with 5 or so shots of Jager. Nice! C'mon, I know a lot of you have had that stuff at one point or another. I tend to find it pretty vile, I'm more of a tequila guy, but that's just me. Seriously though, when people know it's your big 2-1 and buy you drinks, it's just not right turn to turn those drinks down! All in all, a fun, memorable night and a very unpleasant morning.

There was a horrible injustice on my 21st birthday...I had F**KING JURY DUTY!!! I had called in 3 times, and had a mid-range number, and everyone said I would be in the clear, but the fourth time I called on the Friday before my birthday, that bastard recording told me to be at the courthouse at 8am Monday. :bs:
My birthday was on a Monday, but it's traditional with my friends we go out the night before, and at the stroke of midnight, your birthday starts, and I wasn't gonna let a silly little civic duty get in the way of tradition!
Since it was Sunday, and not too many clubs are open we went to Marcella's which had a Rockin' Drag Show every Sunday night. At midnight, I had about ten shots in about, 10 minutes...then a few drinks...more shots...and before I knew it...
THE ALARM CLOCK! I could barely stand up, I was so sick, but I had to go! The last thing I wanted for my birthday was a warrant! I made it to the place and waited, and waited and waited...
I told a little ol' lady it was my birthday and she said "Now you can have your first beer." I nearly threw up on her.
Finally, in front of the judge I was asked if there was any reason I wouldn't be impartial and I said, "Yes, Your Honor, Today is my 21st birthday." (Apparently, you're not supposed to say things like that...) Luckily, the judge must have been in a good mood and said "You're dismissed, have a nice birthday." :D
I went home, passed out and woke up for another round of birthday hoopla! Here's to being legal! :hammer:

January 10, 1998 for me. That night was weird! I was working at the movie theatre then, and all my friends had planned on having a big thing for me at this one dude's place while his parents were gone for the month. I had a problem with it at the time because of religious beliefs ( I never celebrated my birthday beforehand and haven't since) but I decided to live a little. Long story short, I got royally smashed out of my gourd, the party turned out to be so massive my friends at the time and I thought of it as five separate parties for years afterwards, and I got to hook up with the girl of my dreams before going to Perkins and having the entire restaurant sing 'Happy Birthday' (Elisha Burg if you somehow happen to read this I still luv ya girl!) It still weirds me out that things went off without a hitch all day for me then. After that was when I started losing time, 'cause we went out to get smashed every night for a while after that night. Never in my life will I forget that though! It just needed a soundtrack :thumb:

9-15-83. I was at school and we went to a local liquor store and bought a bottle of their finest bourbon. (It was a Walgreens house brand called "Olde Maestro". You couldn't see through it.) No matter how I begged the woman, she wouldn't card me. We took the bottle back to school and sat on the wall in front of the library passing it back and forth. Nobody even noticed. How times have changed.

I turned 21 on June 25, 1998. I honestly don't remember what we did for my birthday. I'm sure I had a drink or 2 but nothing major. Aside from that it was like any other birthday.

Sometimes I feel we miss out on a lot of things here in the Netherlands. Turning 21 wasn't a big deal, same as turning 16 and 18. The first birthday that ppl make a fuss about is when someone turns 50...
