that's your problem. You can do 10,000 but nothing changes. That's because you can't spot reduce. Meaning if you want to lose fat in your stomach, you can't just do situps. You have to watch your diet and do cardio (running, cycling, etc). And it's best to do it first thing in the morning. We all have abs, believe it or not. It's just the fat covering them. Speaking of which, that's my negative. Gotta lose it!
Positive, I guess my biceps. I've been going to the gym so I can't compalin :) Except for the fat.
Caligula 7-12-03, 09:44 AM Dislikes - too many things to list or would slow down the internet
Likes- When I worked out (arms and thighs ) , I guess what I like about my body is it's durability, I've been in some big collisons from hockey, football, Lacross, baseball and I've never been hurt enough to not be able to make it back to the bench on my own, but I had layed out a few opponents. Even managed to get beat up by 3 other guys at a party in high school, and besides a bloddy nose, no other damage. Still to this day at 38 , I have no back or physical ailments...
(One of my best friends who is into health and fitness, has said that I have taken a genitcally great body and done everything possible to destroy it though eating, drinking, smoking etc)

LOSTNTHE80S 7-13-03, 10:48 AM There are things that I would change about my body but I cannot .. it doesn't matter to me that much anymore. If my husband is pleased with it..that's all that matters.
That is a great attitude to have.

I do walk hills, lift weights and do sit ups. Maybe I should start doing them in the morning like you said. I do them after dinner at night. tummys seem to be a common problem.
LIKES: eyes, nose, hands, ears, hair and tattoos ;)
DISLIKES: pretty much everything not mentioned above.
Ever since I had a C-Section with my son, I have had a terrible time trying to shed inches off my tummy. He weighed 10 lbs. when he was born & I gained alot of weight during my pregnancy & have had a hard time getting my self back to my pre-baby weight. And that was 3 years ago! I wish I didn't gain weight so easily! I swear, I can eat one Krispy Kreme donut and gain 3 lbs. from it! Ugh! :argh:
I also dislike the fact that my body is not toned. Now if I could get off my butt and use the $350 worth of Pilates stuff I bought, maybe I wouldn't be sitting here complaining.

Lisa, do you do crunches or situps? Situps do absolutely nothing to define your abs, and actually do more damage to your lower back. Crunches are way more effective, especially if done while laying on one of those big exercise balls. And Sketcher is correct, nothing removes inches from the middle except cardio. It's boring, but it's necessary.

PG...dump that pilates nonsense. It is SO damaging to your lower back!!! There's a tape that my wife uses called "The Firm". Look it up, it works amazingly. One look at my wife proves that!
Likes: arms, abs, tats, eyes
Dislikes: nose, teeth
Ooops....guess Kitty thinks I'm not mature now ;)

Thank you Pagan for the advice! I am very familiar with The Firm tapes - in fact, I have the entire collection on DVD! Still in the plastic never been opened! I will check them out ;)
Gee, Pagan - I have quoted & replied to three of your posts in the past 5 mintues. I swear I am not stalking you

Dislikes: Height and a couple of other things :p
I have to get one those ball thingies to do those crunches. Is there another way without having to buy the equipment ???
The ball isn't expensive XXX, but if you can't get one, just do normal crunches. I do psychotic ones though. ;) :D
LOSTNTHE80S 7-16-03, 04:33 PM LIKES: EYES
DISLIKES: TOES (I hate my toes! )
............as for the rest...as I said before...I can't change anything (well, I guess I could with the boobs if I wanted to  but if my honey likes what he sees, that's all that matters to me. :)

If YOU are happy, that is what counts!
The problem is, Foreigner, is that it's hard to be a woman and be happy with your body because there are a million mixed signals coming at you every day from all sorts of places that tell you what it means to be perfect.
It's crap. You can't be perfect, nobody can.
There is nothing wrong with muscular arms. There will be a million ads, TV shows, movies, etc. that will tell you otherwise, tho. It's even harder when you are young because at your age, you worry a lot more about what people think of you.
I can tell you now that all people have issues in some manner with themselves. While there is nothing wrong with wanting to improve yourself, you can't let the pursuit of perfection take over your life. I am sure that you are great just the way you are. I don't like my body or myself very much but I am learning to.
Don't let it drive you nuts. The sooner you learn to accept yourself and learn to keep an open mind about almost everything in life (except for things that put you in danger somehow) the happier you will be.
Once I stopped worrying that I am not Cindy Crawford and started concentrating on being a good person, I was much happier. I still keep up with my appearance somewhat, but it doesn't consume me.
What are your good qualities, Foreigner? Think about that.

Pagan, I just started doing crunches on that exercise ball back in January. Those things rock!!! :D I do a lot of my weight lifting on them now too.
I guess maybe the hill walking isn't enough cardio. It sure feels like it is at the time. I might try adding jump rope again. I sure don't like cardio!!!
Lisa, if you can find an elliptical machine for your cardio by all means use it! Best cardio workout I ever did, and almost zero impact on the knees. :D
ImSoooSure 7-18-03, 02:03 AM Elliptical Machine??? What's that? I'm very interested if it makes cardio more bearable and effective!:yesnod:
The original question asked what do we like and dislike about our body's etc....
I can honestly answer that and say that i am more than content with the body i've got - it's by no means perfect whatsoever!! but i feel that i am in good health mentally and that's all that matters as far as i'm concerned and all that should matter really!
Human's these days places to much emphasis on the persuit of physical happiness in terms of their body's etc...but happiness comes from within, no matter what type of body God blessed you with and if people i meet judge me on the basis of what i look like etc...then they are not worth knowing at all in my view!
LOSTNTHE80S 8-20-03, 09:47 AM I applaud your answer Tony!
During the years, I have been constantly harrassed because of my size ............even up to the point of considering _______ at one point, just to end it.
I gradually learned to try and accept what I'm stuck with. I put it like that because no exercising, or medication can change it.
I, like Brandy, have concentrated ( or tried to/or just become..I don't know) on becoming a person that people would not judge on my body is like, but for who I am.

Thanks Sweetie! :D
At the end of the day, the one thing all of us want is happiness and in my view it will never be found in the physical sense.
Happiness and self fulfillment will only ever be achieved from within your soul and being happy with yourself in that respect!
If people you meet judge you/dislike you on the basis of your physical appearence then they are not worth the time of day in my view!
Boy, did this thread get blown WAAAAAAAAAAY out of proportion!!!
People, it was originally just intended to ask "Hey, what don't ya like about yourself and what do ya like." Now it's been turned into some philosophical discussion about how people look at one another.
Lighten up gang!
I know my nose is f*cking huge, doesn't mean I'm gonna run out and get a nose job. It's what I've been dealt, it's what I am. But I'd be lying through my teeth (which I don't like either!) if I were to say I liked it. I deal with it, that's all! So it goes into the catagory of "what I don't like". Doesn't mean I think people will judge me by it, because that's not what the original topic was about!
Let's try to return to what the thread was originally intended to be about, k?
Prefab Sprouter 8-21-03, 09:01 AM ok well to get back on track what do I hate about my body
Right I've got a Roman Nose. Yes indeedy its a big honker!!! And I'm getting a Big Stomach too.
What do I like? I've got well built and well toned legs. And I think my eyes are ok, at least women have been very complimentary about them. And my height too.
So there ya go. Prefab's honesty session is over!!!!
djdaffy1227 8-21-03, 09:09 AM Likes-legs, face :) , arms (not muscular, but I like them all the same). My BIG....um....feet...yes that's it....FEET!
dislikes-my chest, I never go outside with my shirt off. I will not go swimming unless I can wear a shirt. My belly is a little big, but that doesn't bother me the way my chest does.
I like my body just about the way it is. THe only thing is hair, I wish I could have no hair grow at all, except my facial hair. Shaving my head all the time is a pain, but still easier than washing, and combing hair every day.
Foreigner 9-12-03, 05:54 PM wow is this thread still going ahahaha
