Who where the best hard rock girl band/ artist in the 80's? I liked Vixen because they looked good - what lovely peroxide hair the singer had! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif hey and I think some of their songs were pretty cool too.
I liked Lita Ford too -I had a big poster of her up in my bedroom.

I just love girl rockers! Lita Ford and Vixen are obvious favorites. I love Pat Benatar and Joan Jett even though they are not hard rock. Benatar puts on a kick-ass live show even at 40! I also dig the Bangles. I met Susanna Hoffs, and she was just great to talk to.

Lita Ford is the Queen!!! Vixen is second on my list. The shame is not many girl bands got the chance to make it big.

Ah! NotMan I forgot about Doro! unlike most European singers, her accent actually came through in her singing voice. She was very pretty too - I liked her in the 'All We Are'
clip - what an outfit!
He he he! yeah Blazie I have an 80's hairdo in the year 2000!
Hey Mad Dog have you seen Lorraine Lewis's teeth in the video 'falling in and out of love' there so white it almost dazzles the camera!!

Doro, I read that and thought who is Doro. So I looked it up, and it is the babe from Warlock. I saw them in Austin, TX in 88 with Krokus and ????? Thanks now I can't remember who the other band was.

It was a good show. It seemed like it was an after thought though. It was in a small place that held maybe 2500 people. But there was less then 100 people there. In spite of the small crowd they still rocked.

I have a video called 'How To Break Into The Heavy Metal Industry Without Getting Screwed'
And it's got an interview with Doro on it when she was in Warlock. She's very nervous of the camera's presence and you can hear it as she speaks, but what she says is quite intelligent http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/wink.gif
She still sings very well today - I was impressed by her version of 'Egypt (The Chains Are On)'
on the Ronnie James Dio tribute album

Doro Pesch is my favorite. Most of her albums weren't even released here. However you can go to www.rammusic.com (http://www.rammusic.com) and buy them!

Also I was a big of Chrissy Steele and Joan Jett. Speaking of Jett, she is touring right now, and will in late Summer do a few shows leading off for Alice Cooper who will start his U.s. And Canada tour late summer.

KOCH RECORDS
For Immediate Release:

Doro Pesch Set To Release First Album In U.S. In Over 10 Years!

Having been out of the US music spotlight for over a decade, German rock icon Doro Pesch has returned to show America what's been missing in the current state of hard rock! After captivating & enchanting the audience at this year's March Metal Meltdown in New Jersey, Doro is preparing to unleash a new album through KOCH Records (set for release on September 12th) that will
re-position her name to true rock regality.

Although she has kept musically active in Europe over the years, this will be her first US release since 1990's self-titled release. Former vocalist for 80's Metal giants Warlock, Doro felt the need to break away from the 'sword & sorcery' stigma that surrounded the band and spread her wings to focus on a more emotional & personal sound. As a solo artist, she has in excess of eight releases to her credit and has achieved worldwide success. Now it is time for her to re-establish herself on American shores, and in order to achieve this goal, she is prepared to release a very memorable album.

Not a woman to pull any punches, Doro enlisted the assistance of some very
noteworthy musicians to compose this magnum opus! She recently teamed up
with Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister in Los Angeles to re-record the
Motorhead track,"Love Me Forever" in pure, emotive Doro fashion. The song
originally appeared on Motorhead's album '1916'. This collaboration also
spawned a new track, another duet called "Alone Again". Both songs will
appear on her new album, which is now titled 'Calling The Wild'.

If your palate is not yet whet with anticipation, the release also features
contributions from Slash (Snakepit, ex-Guns 'N Roses) and Al Pitrelli
(Megadeth, ex-Savatage, ex-Asia, etc.). If that wasn't enough to make a mammoth of an album, the proverbial icing on the cake, however, is an amazing Doro-ized cover version of the Billy Idol classic "White Wedding". Guest appearances coupled with Doro's trademark rock ethic of 'stunning beauty meets aggressive beast' will make this an album not to miss! http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Alley/1765/index.html

Hey Roemello, you're lucky - my mother tells me to get my hair cut off all the time, and when she saw that Metallica removed their soul (their hair) , she got worse, saying
'everybodys doing it why don't you?' ah! never! I'm not a sheep! (though I look like a 'sheep dog')
I've got that double disc - have you noticed it has a different version of Hit Me With Your Best Shot from normal?
It's amazing how many times she changed her image/appearance - you can see it in the single covers in the booklet.

I don't know what you'll think about her Jazz direction though Roe - it's a little weird. I'm not sure why she did it? there's two jazz/blues songs that made it onto her best off : Paying The Cost To Be Boss & True Love. I don't think much of them - it's just not Pat! (if you know what I mean)
Hey! I've just seen an old Hard & Heavy video

Yeah Tyd, but hey it doesn't matter /ubb/smilies/smile.gif
We're now talking about the very lovely Bobbie Brown (the gorgeous blonde from the
Warrant 'cherry pie' clip)
Hey I wonder who she is married to now?

Well I don't know who she's married to now but it probably wouldn't be too hard to find out /ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Here's some info you might like, she's supposed to be co-host on a show called "Battle Dome" that airs Saturday mornings at 11:00am EST on UPN /ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Well, the last time I heard of her, she was on this show called Battle Field or something like that on UPN (9) in NY. Its kinda the hyped up verions of Galiators...

Doro was and still is my favorite female in rock. I also like Pat Benetar and Joan Jett. I am still a huge Heart fan. I never really cared for Vixen or Lita. That "come on pretty baby..." line sounded way immature for me. Although, her Close my eyes forever with Ozzy ROCKED!

I cannot believe noone has mentioned Girlschool! They were great! When I was in my band in HS, we did GS covers. Demolition Boys was a huge hit at our shows!

W.O.W. did, in fact, commit suicide. Rumour has it that she was devastated over her lack of career and fell on hard times. She suffered clinical depression and I guess she was unable to climb out of that black hole that people who suffer depression can get stuck in. Truly sad. Although I never liked her musically, (or as an actor, for that matter.) it is sad when anyone feels that there is nothing left to fight for.

Rain, is that what happened to Wendy O Williams?? did she do herself in as well? someone told me this, but I still don't know the truth, I'm actually not a great fan, I just have a music of her - and she's singing
"It's my life and I'll do what I wanna do"?!?

yes it is a sad end to once successful rockers - sometimes it's their last attempt
at getting media attention - a bit drastic if you ask me!

I have never really listened to Girl School!?
I've heard a few tracks here and there, what is a good album to listen to in your opinion?

Yeah, I have a soft spot for Heart too - those girls voices are pretty powerful, I loved their late 80's stuff /ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Too late to add my reply about Bobbie Brown? She was with Matthew Nelson, then married Jani Lane, and then she was with Tommy Lee.(yeck.) He married Pamela a month after Bobbie ran out on him for beating her. Her only marriage was to Jani.....I believe that she was with a few other rock stars in between these also.....like Mark McGrath?

anyone interested in reading about bobby brown can go to the metal sludge site, and click on the 20 questions archive, they interviewed her about 2 or 3 months ago. Sorta interesting reading, if you ask me.
