 This day SUCKED! I'm so pizzed right now that I'm going to go out to the pool for a while, have a cold beer, and I'll fill you all in with the details later.

******************************8

Ok..I'm a LITTLE cooled off now. So here goes...

We get up this morning..the girls are into it about everything little thing. One pushes the other and bends the hell out of our aluminum back door.

We finally get on the road to the St. Louis fair......we have to park way out of the way because of all the traffic and walk almost 4 blocks to the metro link..no biggie, we still have time to ride in the free zone (11:30 am-1:30 pm)..NOT!! It's a holiday so we shell out $12.00 for all 4 of us.

I run to KEY WEST to see if they still have my camera from last weekend...No !

So we take the kids to HRC to grab a soda..can't get a table for approx. 30 min. so we'll just have something to drink..can't get waited on.

Let's go to the FEst! YIPPEE! The metrolink train we are on feels like 3 wheels are going to fly off at any time and the driver must have been on the........well, anyway, she was really being a boutch!

The prices were rediculous..we are cooking like frozen turkeys (temp of 93 w/heat index of 105)..we walk, and walk,. Go through security, etc... Walk some more...

Let's find a great seat for the PAT BENATAR concert!!! The only good seats have already been reserved for sponsors..... we find an ok spot... but I don't think that I'm going to make the kids sit out there in the open sun for over an hour baking..so I tell Joe I'll be right back...the guys are at an inbetween part in setting up the stage (instruments...etc..) I notice..So I go to a guy and ask if maybe I could get one of the guys back there to run up on the stage and take a pic for me of the set list to show you all on the xchange. He looks at me and says the internet? I say yes...I just wanted to show what songs they had played..he says "I'm glad you told me that" and takes my fluckin camera! I tell him that it's just a message board that I'm not going to sell it..that there are fans and that we all just post items about our fave artists. He finally gives it back after convincing him that I'm telling him the truth (my god..it's just a piece of paper!)

So..we go up to a shady area...I shell out $3.50 for a warm beer that consists of 4oz warm beer and 8 ounces of foam...we decide just to leave.

THE XCHANGERS!!! OOOps! I had better get ahold of Ron to see where he is...where's a phone? Hmmm..can't find one...I finally find one and then find out that I have left his cell phone number in the car back across the river!

...........continue later.......think I need another beer............I am ALL FIRED UP!

I am sorry to hear that your day did not go so well today, Jana. Then again, I am stuck inside on the fourth of July because my asthma started acting up on me today with this heat and humidity.

Thanks DC..sorry to hear about your asthma ...hope the weather clears up soon so you feel better. :)

Hey...there's just a little more to this...it sort of gets better..:)

So..I'm sitting there drinking my warm beer, trying to cool off the kids, and rest up so we can begin the long journey home...when these people are walking asking people to move from this path. We are out of the way when these vans with...tinted windows drive about 2 feet in front of us....IT'S THE BAND!!! They drive right down to behind the stage! (Well..behind a wall rather that's by the stage)

So..the sun is baking us more even in the shade so we decide to skip the concert and just head home...so..I go down and try to look around for Jeff or Ron one more time...I'm near the wall by the stage and there is a gap...I CAUGHT A GLANCE OF NEIL! Just for an instant...I thought OMG! He had a white cap or scarf thing around his head! AWESOME! Didn't see Pat though.

But anyway..we left there..traffic was near to nothing..and took the girls for a nice late lunch/early dinner at APPLEBEES.

Oh Jana, I'm so sorry you had such a sucky day. :( It always seems like if one thing goes wrong, everything else goes to hell right along with it. I hope the rest of your weekend goes well, and you can put today's lousy events behind you. :rose:

Ouch! Sorry you had such a bad day, Jana. I know how you guys must have felt in that sun , heat, and humidity (I work outside most of my workdays). It's a shame that you didn't get to stay for the concert, but you do have to be careful of the heat especially with kids. Maybe you'll get another chance to see it near you. So it started with the aluminum door and went downhill from there. :yikes:

You deserve this...:rose:

I'm at home alone trying to deal with a toothache that came on all of a sudden earlier in the day.

Hope your tooth gets to feeling better soon Sarg..

I kind of was really wanting to give you a full report on the concert... I kind of feel like I let you down in a way....I know that you were excited about some of the other songs and you know that I was excited about even getting to see her. I couldn't even find the guy selling the tshirt goodies...

Sayyy....where are you going to get to see her at? A trip to Florida sounds nice! LOL!

We've taken a dip in the pool now, I've had a beer....and we're getting ready to take the kids to the fireworks... they made us promise not to go to the Fair again!

Oh Jana, I'm sorry you didn't have a great day. What is this with Pat Benatar and hot days. She came here two years ago on one of the hottest days of the summer. I think it got near 100 or so. I was going to go, but decided not to go due to the heat. Even though it was hot, it was the biggest crowd this concert series had.
I'm not doing too well right now, because my sinuses are bothering me. Also, I've been thinking of my niece who's sick. My sister called this morning and told me that she's vomitting with a fever. I'm wondering if my Mom's over at my brother's helping out or at my sister's taking easy.

The toothache feels much better, thanks Jana!

You didn't let me down. You have to take care of the family, so don't worry about it. Unfortunitely, Pat is not doing any shows in Florida on this tour, at least not until after the first of the year from what I hear, and that's probably due to the heat at this time of the year.
More shows are going to be added after the album release date though. In the meantime, We're going to Biloxi, MS to see her show on August 8th. There's another concert of Pat's that's coming to Chicago Ridge, IL at Freedom Park on July 27th. Is that anywhere near you?

 Have one for me!!! :D

Sorry you hear about your bad day Jana - it really was a tough day all round huh? nothing that an ice cold beer wouldn't fix :thumb:

DOnt worry Jana, the news on the day gets WORSE! Pat comes on, looking GREAT and sounding TERRIFIC. Goes through 2 songs I didnt recognise, then goes into SHADOWS OF THE NIGHT. Sounding GREAT! She was sounding better than on cd, if you ask me. Then, a nice cloud comes over the crowd, so it cools down about 10 degrees, or so it felt. Then Pat starts talking about the new CD and everything and is remarking how cool it is to be playing under the Arch, and then, it happens. It starts sprinkling. Pat says "In Hawaii we call rain 'the blessing' " Well, St Louis must have REALLY been blessed, because about 45 seconds into a new song from the new CD, it just starts POURING rain. I mean it isnt even CLOSE to being "just a shower". WInd, thunder, lighting, and, I am sitting under a 800 foot monument made out of stainless steel. NOT THE BEST PLACE TO BE! Before I can make it to any cover, I am completely soaked! THe band stops, leaves, and everybody takes off.

Well, that did allow me to start my drinking EARLIER than planned. So, I go by the bar I used to work at and order a nice Schlaffley on tap. Well, its WARM! How does a BAR have WARM tap beer? I ask for a Miller Lite. Its SKUNKED! So, I get a Heineken, its ok. I decide to switch to Amstel Light. AGAIN! SKUNKED BEER! I eventually end up sticking with some Newcastle Ale. COLD AND REFRESHING! Saw a lot of old friends from the bar, and got home reletively early.

Didnt get to see Jana or Jeff though! SORRY GUYS!

So Jana, after reading Ron's description of the the concert it sounds like maybe you made the right decision and the Gods and Goddesses were telling you something. :)

Sarg
7-05-03, 03:39 PM
Geez! I guess the St. Louis fair wasn't the place to be at on the fourth. It was a bad day for all of you guys.

Jana, it looks like you didn't miss much of the concert from Jasper's experience, and it's a shame that all of you guys had to travel all that way just to get knocked out by the bad heat and rain.

Well..it's sort of my own fault...Ron told me a while back that the Fair wasn't really his favorite place to be ..especially on the 4th. NEVER AGAIN!..The people that had the "sponsor seating" weren't even close enough to catch a guitar pick I don't think. It was quite a ways from the stage from what I saw.

Ron...sorry that I missed you..I think we could have did some damage! Especially in the kind of mood I was in after all of that. We were on the way back home and realized that we were going to take the kids to the landing to see the carriages...they love horses..good thing we didn't though..especially with the storm. At least you got to see Pat for a few minutes. Was Jill able to go with you yesterday?

Hey...we'll get together again sometime soon ok? :)

Wow!!! Sounds like the day sucked for both of you! I had to work all day. but we watched the fireworks from our yard (close enough to the lopcal display_.. Evie was a good girl ;)

Jasper... You and Joe like exactly the same beers.. Newcastle Ale is his favorite.. (then Goose Island)

Murphy's Law was working full force for you yesterday!

Michael..I think EVERY law was working in full force!

WInd, thunder, lighting, and, I am sitting under a 800 foot monument made out of stainless steel. NOT THE BEST PLACE TO BE!

Ron..that could have been a total disaster! We saw the lightning when we were in Fairview Heights. Think we left between 3:15- 3: 30 from the Arch.

Just relax by your pool and have a few more beers. lol

I did Jazz..I did![QUOTE]

BTW Sarg..thanks for the rose...was as good as a hug. I really needed that! :)

Sorry you had a crappy 4th... Hopefully the rest of your weekend was better! :) My boyfriend and I joined over six hundred thousand people to watch the fire works on the Boston Esplanade. It took us almost three hours to walk a few hundred feet after. :grr: We had a few beers after too!
