Earlier tonight I was bored so I decided to go on a site that I sometimes frequent called "In The 80s". While there I was looking at a section on 80s songs that have been covered in the 90s on and I noticed something: a LOT of them were covered by punk bands. Now, I don't know what it is, but something about that just makes me mad. Why don't these punk bands stick with the original stuff?! I mean sure, one or two are good, but I personally think that they're just flogging a dead horse. So to all the punk bands out there: STOP COVERING 80S TUNES!

I'm sorry, I just had to get that off my chest. It's been bugging me all night.

I gues it is a form of flattery. Even if most suck. I think I heard an 80's tune covered by Sugar Ray yesterday. I know it was an 80's song but not sure who covered it. Sounded good tho. :)

Punk bands(and Pop-Punk bands)always have covered 80's tunes because alot of 80's tunes are pretty simple and still sound good when you speed the tempo up,plus alot of people in these bands grew up in the 80's so it's like paying tribute to the music they grew up with.A pretty cool album to check out is a comp called "Punk goes Metal"it's got punk bands covering 80's hair metal songs, some of them are quite good.

I believe New Found Glory did a whole album cover of 80s songs. I think they did movie songs.
