While visiting Texas I had to take my children to Six Flags AstroWorld in Houston...I grew up in Houston and I always loved AstroWorld and wanted my children to experience it as well.

One of my all time favorite rides was the Texas Cyclone, and I had to ride it for old times sake. Well, I learned after the first drop that they removed the head and neck restraints that were once there,I realized this when my head flung backwards and touched my back, which happened two more times!

When I got off the ride I had a migraine and a sore neck. The following morning I could barely move my neck and figured it would pass. Here I am now 8 days later and I have had upper back pain, neck pain and an increase in headaches every since the ride! I am not sure what to do...unfortunately I don't have medical insurance, but I am miserable! :bigcry:

Any suggestions?

Aw, sorry to hear about that Melissa. I certainly hope that doesn't mean you won't want to ride a rollarcoaster again! As for the whiplash, I don't know, but I hope you manage to sort it out.

If the swelling has stopped, try a heating pad and some ibuprofen. Try to relax, and don't move your head around more than is necessary.

Bummer to see they would remove such an important piece of safety equipment from a ride that can cause such injuries. :irked:

Good luck, and take care of yourself. :rose:

Thanks Rhel and Recker :*

I went to the ER when the pain became intense last night and the doctor said I have whiplash (duhhh) and soft tissue damage in my upper back and neck

And, as much as I have always loved roller coasters and waited hours in line to have a 2 minute ride on the scariest rides..I think my roller coaster and "scary" ride days are over
