I couldn't get on VH-1's website today to find their list of 100 greatest songs of the last 25 years but as I was looking for it, I found this. It is from the New Musical Express. The magazine that publishes the British charts (Like Billboard does in the US). It is called the 100 best songs of all time and was published in 2003. Lots of 80's stuff. Well I have to admit that 6, 10 and 14 are absolute classics and are well deserving of their place in the top 100. Whether they are deserving of their exact placings I'm not so sure. Sex Pistols deserve #3 because that song launched a thousand bands in the 70's. Joy Division at #1? Well I prefer it to Nirvana but the best song of all time?????? AH DONT THANK SO!!!!!!!!!! :D

No way! That's like the first "Top Whatever" list I have seen where I like the majority of the songs. Although, I don't think Nivana should be #2  But Sex Pistols at #3? And Buzzcocks at #17? Hell yeah! That's awesome :D

If this is the music they play on the radio in the UK, maybe I need to move there! ;)

Lots of good songs on there. I love Joy Division, but I'm not sure if I would have put "Love Will Tear Us Apart" at #1. As far as lists goes, any list would be better than the ones VH-1 puts out.

One of the best "All Time Top 100-Lists" and clearly better than anything coming from VH-1 - actually, this Top 100 would make a very essential compilation of Rock and Pop music.

Yay! Come to England and visit me :D

I actually have that edition of NME where it shows their top 100 songs. Knowing NME, I'm surprised The Smiths aren't voted higher :p Mind you, they did prevsiouly polled them as no1 for 'The Most Influential Band Ever', and the Beatles ended up at no 2. Which is all good in my opinion beacuse I've always thought the Beatles were overrated. Am I gonna get slaughtered for saying that?? :hammer:

Not by me Christina! I have ALWAYS thought the Beatles were over-rated. And if J and I ever get to England, your pad will be our first stop! ;) :)

I know! You gotta show us the best dives there, so we don't get stuck in the tourist traps! I was talking to my room-mate about England, actually! Most places in Europe, I would like to visit, but Iceland, Southern Europe, and England would be prime places to definitely put on the map for a European vacation :)

Btw, The Beatles ARE over-rated. They do have a lot of good songs, but I don't think they deserve to be the be-all, end-all of influential bands/musicians.
