I am wondering if there is anyone here that might be familiar with some of the Punk bands that came from the East Coast? I noticed alot of people mention West Coast & UK Punk bands, but there were so many great acts that came from here in DC & NYC back in the 80's. I was an active member of the DC Hardcore scene & spent alot of my youth seeing shows here & in NYC. Gosh I can remember the days when I could get into CBGB's with no I.D. and I was all of ohhhh 15 ! haha! Anyhow, I wanted to list some bands off the top of my head that were from the East Coast that were popular around here in the 80's. If there is anyone that can add to this list, please do so, as my mind is slowly creeping away from me at the ripe age of 31

And, if you used to attend hardcore shows back in the day, please feel free to share any experiences or memories you might have...

Anyway, here are a few:

Minor Threat / Fugazi
Bad Brains (oh man, they were AWESOME!)
Iron Cross
Government Issue
Teen Idles
Shudder To Think
Dictators
Agnostic Front
Cro-Mags
Scream (Dave Grohl's original band)
Gorilla Biscuits
Slapshot
Murphy's Law
Marginal Man
7 Seconds

I've been an active member of the Oi/Streetpunk scene here in Cleveland since I was 13(18 long years ago)and I've seen alot of great bands over the years.
As far as east coast punk goes,I'd add to the list...

the Misfits
Dead Boys(originally from Cleveland I might add)
Sick of it All
H2O
the Ramones(Gods in my Book)
the Pagans(not really east coast but another great Cleveland Band)
and a special mention to the most dangerous man punk has ever and will ever see...GG Allin

Also some of the great Boston bands that are out now...
Dropkick Murphy's
the Unseen
Ducky Boys
the Pinkerton Thugs

Dropkick Murphys! Oi! Oi! Oi!

Minor Threat and Fugazi are good. The Agnostic Front are okay, but nobody beats The 4 Skins! Crazyness all around! The Ramones (agree on their status as gods!) and The Dead Boys too! Stiv!!!! How could I forget The Dead Boys?!?!

Good schtuff :D

Let us not forget.... Tesco Vee and The Meatmen!

just a quick note for "PoisonGirl234"... I played in a hardcore band in the DC/Baltimore area in the mid to late eighties. We were called "Kiddie Porn". Just curious if you remember them or not?

Boston had a pretty good scene when I was younger. I wasn't really into it but i had a ton of friends who were. But i did dig Fugazi, Slapshot, and Bad Brains! And I agree with Culty, the Ramones are gods!! :)
