A lot of people forget Rozz Williams was back in the 80s. That is when he made it big with Christian Death... Latter he did a few small projects before and after Christian Death. I wonder if anyone ever listen to him. I know he was a jackass (so I heard!) but hell he made some good music. I knew a lot of people who met him. I just wonder if anyone heard of him.
Yup. Heard of the dude. He was a great vocalist, writer, and musician. His best album is Catastrophe Ballet. That is the album which introduced me to Christian Death and the genre of Goth music. After Christian Death, he went on to do solo stuff as well as a band called Shadow Project. The only solo album I have is In Every Dream Home A Heartache, which has a cover of the Roxy Music song of the same name. As with all geniuses, I think the man was very misunderstood and must have felt quite alone and isolated. The drugs only made the situation worse and he committed suicide in his Hollywood apt. on April 1st, 1998 (April Fools Day). He left a good body of works and lots of fans miss him.

I absolutely love Rozz. I have a Christian Death tatt on my left foot. Apart from Christian Death & Shadow Project he was also in Daucas Karotta and Heltir.

I met Rozz when Christian Death were in London in 1991/2 (not exactly sure). I loved his voice, and although "Valor" took over whn Pompei99 folded, Rozz was the original. He seemed like a sonud sort of guy, but he did get worse as time went on, until his demise :-(
Yes, he was a complete moron but the first Christian Death record was pretty darn good for an independent release. The stuff he released after that was hit or miss with me.
If anyone is interested, they should check out another cool L.A. Goth band around at the time...London After Midnight. Not quite as good as Christian Death but they put out some pretty good stuff. You will have to search the used bins for them cause I don't think any of their stuff is in print anymore.

Theatre of Pain is an outstanding record! I have it on 12" and it comes with this cheesy sleeve of uber goth photos of the band. There's even one with a skinned cat (which is actually pretty awful now that i think about it).
I met Rozz at a show in Philly once. He was all coked up and read lyrics from a book. The show was cancelled mid-set when he brought out a nazi flag and draped it over his shoulder. Crazy, huh? I also remember trying to break up a fight my friend got in with some kids.
An unforgettable evening...
