(Please forgive me if this has been asked before - I just tried a bunch of searches here and didn't find anything. I'm asking here since the site had to do with culture.)

Anyway, does anyone know what happened to the yesterdayland.com website? I haven't been able to access it for months and I really miss it!

Thanks!
:)

I haven't been on yesterdayland.com in ages, but I did have it bookmarked in my fave list. When I went to access it just now, it said Web Site Not Responding. Either they've changed urls or it's been shut down...

Yesterdayland is no more. I have no idea why it's been taken off the web, but it's gone forever. It was a great site, but I guess the webmaster couldn't keep it up. It was one of the only sites that had pretty good information on the TV series, Benson.

Haven't visited there in months myself....if it's been gone for over a month though, either it was taken down for maintenance or taken down indefinitely. You'd think with a site that was that well established, there'd have been some kinda notice though either way...

Too bad...was a hell of a good resource...

I wonder where all of those Yesterdayland people went that was at the 80sxchange for awhile? I'm surprised to see that they didn't come back over here.

Wow, thanx guys. It's too bad it seems to be really gone. :( I really loved all the info on that site. Maybe copyright issues got them or something? With all those pictures and all. Hmmm.

Yesterdayland is gone forever! They didn't give any notice, they just disappeared suddenly. I had a website address to a message board where some of the YL'ers gather but I have lost it so I guess I have lost contact with them forever. I had great memories there but there was also a lot of BS that you don't get here. This site is fantastic!

YL's gone...without ANY word from the monitors.

I was a VERY active member there.

Oh well...c'est la vie.

In a Google search, I saw it mentioned on some other message board that there is now a Yahoo group for people who were on the boards at Yesterdayland. That person didn't remember what the group was called, so I'm sorry I don't know either. They also said the site went down on March 31, 2003 because the webmasters couldn't keep up with it - or didn't want to - anymore. They also said it may be back, perhaps with a different look, some time in the future - it also may not.

Clear as mud.

Just stumbled on a site that was called Yesterdayland Cafe. It's a site where people who used to frequent YL site can go and chat.
Good Luck

Yesterdayland went down in flames cause they couldn't afford to keep it going anymore. The last 6 months of it's life was a BIG joke in some respects.

Hate to say it but that YLC place sucks.

Most of the YL'ers have their own boards now and some are still on here :D

I liked Yesterdayland, but oh well. I like this place better anyways. :)

You weren't there when the flamers took over. It became a battlefield.

Oh I remember the last days of Yesterdayland and it wasn't pretty at all. I used to lurk in the Yesterdayland Cafe, but never posted. Too many flamage going on there. I'd prefer hanging out here. This IS a better place to hang out in. A lot more friendlier people. :)

Yes, I used to frequent Yesterdayland frequently. Then one day I went there and it was gone. But if you REALLY need a Yesterdayland fix, then there is an archive here:

You may even see a post of your own there. I saw a reply that I posted.

Oh gosh, I used to go to Yesterdayland everyday but I haven't been able to access it for well over a year!
It went bankrupt or something, there is a site explaining it here http://www.elsewhere.org/cgi-bin/yland.cgi/

The same guy also has a "copy" of the website here if anyone is interested in looking at it http://web.archive.org/web/20030320023934/www.yesterdayland.com/

Blarg, it's too bad the place had to go. Yeah it's been a long time since I last saw it. They should have given some explination for the shut down. I also wonder if it had anything to do with copyright. I've seen a lot of good SImpson sites go down because of stupid stuff like that. I never went to their message board but it sounds like they didn't enforce the rules well if at all. All boards get flames from time to time, mine did for awhile but that was quickly put to rest. I like this place because it enforces its rules to and isn't afraid to do so. Good rules make for good boards.

Lucky for the xchange we have excellent mods who have kept recent battles off the board. Nothing like a few to ruin the fun for the rest. :irked:

Agreed, TC! Well said!

On topic...I had never heard about Yesterdayland until reading about it in a few posts here. This is the first 80s-related messageboard I joined...and I decided to stay. I tend to be somewhat single-minded. :p
