As some of you may know I am running an all 80s metal/rock/glam night at The Voodoo Lounge in Bayside, Queens. Sunday night was the opening night. From the e-mails and the response that I was getting through promoting at shows I really thought it would go great and I would have a big turn out. The total opposite happened.

This Sunday is my last chance to make this night happen or it is all over. Everyone in NYC and Long Island - please - if you love 80s metal get off your butts and come down this Sunday, May 14. We are gonna have a ladies night, so all women who are over 18 and wanna be on the guest list just e-mail me with your names.

Please support this night, and its really not about the money for me, I actually put in a lot more money into it than I actually made. All I wanted is to have an all 80s night (I don't know of any other steady night where they play all 80s metal) where people can meet, listen & dance to some awesome music, and basically just do my best to keep this kind of music from dying. Please come down this Sunday night, if you don't its not gonna be a next time.

Please e-mail me with anything you want to!

Cruella, the problem may be the night itself. Most lovers of that scene are older now, have kids, a decent job, etc. Sunday night just isn't party night anymore when you have responsibilities. If you could get the club to move it to a Friday or Saturday night, your turnout would probably be alot better. See if they will go for it.

That is what a lot of people are telling me. 99% of the people I have spoken to, have e-mailed me or responded to my message boards have said the same thing.

In doing this night, I talked to many different club and bar owners and they all wouldn't let me do it on a Friday or Saturday night. If I was to do it on one of those nights they wanted several thousand dollar guarantees for the evening. The Roxy in NYC wanted $10,000 for a Friday or Saturday night for one dance floor.

I think the problem is that noone is doing this, and it is considered a big risk on the bar owner's side. Most established places are depending on Friday & Saturday night to make all their money so they are not gonna let someone like me come in & change things. Like the saying goes....if its not broke, don't fix it!!

I think I'm just stuck in a shitty situation.

Damn. In time, we could probably put together a collection for the night. How much is it for a weekend night? I doubt there are many people right here who could contribute. We've barely broken the 100 member barrier. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/frown.gif How much do you need? If I had it, I would gladly loan it to you. But right now, I'm saving for a new car. Mine is totally on it's way out... This is one thing I really want to be successful for. Having the money to support a good cause is always in my interests.. Hopefully, in the future I will be better prepared...

All I really need is people to show up this Sunday to make up for the money that I lost last Sunday. This is NOT gonna work on a Sunday night. We are opening doors at 8:00 this time so even if people want to come in, have a drink, hang for a little and still have enough time to go to work the next day.

Anyone interested, please come on down, this will most likely be our last time doing this.

Metal Edge has a classified adds section. If you change your mind about doing it again an add there might bring in a lot of people http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif
