The following is a full scale temper tantrum, do proceed with caution

I flucking hate having writer's block I haven't written anyting in more than 2 flucking bloody weeks! :fight:

I have to do flucking 5 pieces of my work, for a portfolio for a possible intership with the Village Voice (http://www.villagevoice.com/) due next flucking month.

Its not that I don't have any ideas, its just that I can't flucking put anything down on flucking paper. I go to sleep around 2am and wake up at 4am with something to write. But then its gone. :dammit:

I've always been best under pressure but this killing me. I want that intership at the Voice so bad! :violin:

That and looking at my last 6-8 pieces... my writing sucks :(

Hey, aaaaaaaall good writers get writers block. You just have to give your mind a breather and come back.

Then, think of the things that tend to inspire you, like the pieces you wrote *before* the last 6-8 pieces...

You can do it! You've done it in the past and you're just feeling 'high anxiety' because the stakes are high. But, there are probably others *already at* the Village Voice who don't have the same perspective and talents that you have.

Take a breath, then another one, then another one... then take a walk, do other things and take another loooooooong walk. Think of the things you like, then let your creativity gradually sliiiiiiiiiiide into gear. Let it sneak up on you. It often takes a real effort to get in the groove.

But you can do it. Trust the force, luke, er, Tydestra....

And try not to use the word 'fluckin' in anything you write from now on. It'll help. Trust me. It's a really cheap way of expressing complex feelings. You have the ability to reach deeper into your soul to say what you really mean.

Cheers, and best wishes! ;)

Incidentally, I'm curious about your 'five pieces of work'. Mind sharing one or two of the topics?

Think about what you know about your topics that some of your readers may not. Tell us/them what *you* find interesting, as well as what things *we/they* might find interesting...

When i'm stressed i usally do some Yoga. I'm not a writer so, I have writers block all the time. I can't even write a letter without sounding like a dufus. :) But seriously Yoga clears my head and gets me in the right state of mind. Good Luck! Wow, the Village Voice! That's awesome!!! :)

 It's also a cheap way of getting away with writing the real F word and not having this thread deleted. ;)

OK, I've gotta shut up or I'm going to get into more trouble. :bonk:

Oh yeah, writers block. Definitely frustrating. Especially when you want to get something finished!

No fluckin' way, Reck!!! You fluckin' serious???

Really, Ty, I wonder if maybe you have a relaxation ritual to follow? Free your mind and whatnot. Ususally, after a few minutes of clearing my head, that's when the best stuff pops in. ;)

Why not use your Velvet story as a piece? I thought it was awesome! Tell them it could be a weekly thing....one article a week until the story is finished....it'll keep people buying the Village Voice at least until your story is done! And who knows? Can you say 'book deal'? :D

I believe in ya. ;) You can do it. :)

Ty, don't try so hard. When I get blocked I forget about writing completely and just take in everything around me. Something will hit you soon. It always does for me. Shit, you work in Manhattan. Take a walk during your lunch break, if that doesn't inspire you nothing will!

Ty, when I'm stressed about something I either take a long walk (if the weather's okay) or do some yoga. Having writer's block is a horrible feeling. You'll be fine.

I have ideas... I have heaps of scraps of papers looking at me making fun of me... and yeah where was I?

Oh yes, I'm deer in headlights. What is flucking killing me is the flucking deadline. I flucking hate working with those bloody things, they're never bloody good.

As for the cursing, I'm a New York... the fluck word is like commas :D
