I just heard that the first single, "Wicker Man", from Iron Maiden's latest release 'Brave New World' has been nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Metal Song category!!! Plus, the album itself has been nominated for Best Metal Performance!! How awesome is that??!!!

Awesome! Believe it or not, I haven't bought the album yet. I was never a big Iron Maiden fan, but I've always liked their music! Strange - I guess I just felt I didn't have enough time to get into other bands... I really do need to pick up that album!

IMO "Brave New World" is a pretty good CD.....not some of their best work. I would definitely recommend it though.

As for the "Crappys" it is just that....I never did think very highly of them. I don't need a band or bands to get a award to tell me how great they are. I know what I like and if it grabs me by the b*lls then I will listen to it. Just my $.02 http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif

I couldn't agree more with both of ya. All of todays musical awards shows are a joke, and there are a lot of them to laugh at. But, I do appreciate mainstream media recognizing true talent. I haven't heard all of BNW yet, but I do like Iron Maiden and everything they have did. So, even if this isn't their best effort, it is great that they are bringing some positive recognition to heavy metal (as opposed to Marilyn Manson, who is up for the same award!).
BTW, its good to have you back Not Man!

I'd have to go back and look to see who else is up for the award. Manson was easily the most ridiculous!!....... Now that you got me thinking, there are a couple of others that are up for a crappie that would be appreciated here. I know Bon Jovi was one of them, but I don't remember what for. Now, I have to go look. I'll be back!

I know what you mean about the ot, Not Man. I'm on salary so I don't get paid for it. The best I can hope for is a bonus check every month. I've gotta bust my rump to get it, but I admit it is worth it.
Metal does deserve a lot more credit than it gets. There are a lot of quality new bands out there as well as the classics we primarily discuss here.
As far as Manson, I don't even know what the heck that is. He is far worse than Boy George ever was, at least we could describe him!

Salary? Boy have they got you. I punch a clock and I still feel like I get screwed sometimes. When I first took my new position as supervisor they wanted to put me on salary. I told them no thanks I like to get paid for the hours I work.
