View Full Version : For the car buffs in here....
I need an opinion, the first pic is of my car now, and the next two are of what I want to make it into. Now, the "after" pictures are of a yellow one, picture it in the color my car is now. Whattaya think? Worth dropping the $$$ into?
Here's the front view of what I want.
....and here's the rear view.
By the way, all parts except the rims are from the Saturn factory, so the quality will be perfect for the car!
Rhelawen 4-05-03, 10:03 PM Ooooo...that would be a hot lil number, Pagan! Snazzy, indeed. :thumb: And way nicer in the current color of your car. imho. Yellow cars have always been kinda 'ugh' in my books.
I think its worth it!! Do it, MAN!! :thumb:
Very nice but exactly how much $ will it take, that would be the thing that would decide it for me. The yellow one definetely looks cool though, tough choice Pagan, I say if you have the $ go for it...
No ta rain on yer parade, but I think it'd be a waste of money, I'm not one for "Rice-Burners" or the "Look-Fast" but no ponies ta boot look myself, and that's what you'd be turning your car inta, it'd look fast, but there wouldn't be much punch behind the fast looks, 'specially if ya meet a Hemi, 'Stang, or a Chevelle on the line. ;)
I am partial to real cars, so if my reply seems a bit close-minded my apologies. :)
I think the bottom-line is what you think is good for yer money and not others opinions on the matter.

Well...I kinda like yeller cars, in certain models. I already have a '73 'Cuda that's yellow. I can't be having two yeller ones!
As for the $$$ Anthony, with the rims about 3K. Without about 2. It won't happen for another year though. The house comes first. :D

Saturns are American, Phantom ol' buddy! An offshott of GM made right in Spring Hill, Tennessee! Plus, she's got 140 horses, good enough for every day considering her weight. She gets up nicely. :D

So am I, but not for everyday drivers that have to put 85 miles round trip each day. Look below at what I have for a toy and you'll see what I mean. ;) close to 400 horses, 4:11 gears. I'd need a tank of gas just to get to work!
The Beast (http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/paganbass/vwp?.dir=/Pagan&.src=ph&.dnm=The+Beast.jpg&.view=t&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/bc/paganbass/lst%3f%26.dir=/Pagan%26.src=ph%26.view=t)
I'm all for making your car look the way you want it. 3k is a chunk of change, but looks to be well worth it. I really liked the wheels too, not a place to get cheap. I think wheels can make all the difference, but thats me.
JustRockin2 4-05-03, 11:45 PM I think the pics looked sweet! It is cool to modify your car. However, what happened to the '73 Cuda? I saw some dude with a '68 GTO the other day...This car was mint! Dark blue, with white interior. After talking for a while...we took a really nice cruise! Man! I miss muscle cars.
Caligula 4-06-03, 07:00 AM IMHO, save your money, you already have a toy, (Cuda) and a nice one at that. Sure the Saturn would look nice, but no matter what you do it's still a Saturn, thats not an insult , but with all the Mustangs and other sports cars out there it will be lost in the crowd.
You have a reliable car for work and getting around, and an old muscle car (that will go up in value each year) , to showoff and have fun with. plus 2-3000 dollars to do anything you want with. Maybe get a Dale Ernhart bumpersticker for the Saturn
Thats just my opinion, but remember that comes from someone in their 30's that drive's a Grand Marquis (Senior Citizen touring car) :)
Duece5150 4-06-03, 08:01 AM Looks cool dude :thumb: I'd definatly do it!

Well.....the 'Cuda needs some work now. Some moron hit the front end and messed up a fender and the front bumper.

Unfortunately, the 'Cuda will never go up in value. The #s don't match, nothing on it is original. Total street machine. It was a 318 automatic when it was built. We "made" it into a musclecar.
As for the Dale sticker, (no offense to any NASCAR fans!) but I'd rather give birth to a flaqming poprcupine! I hate NASCAR! Now....a John Force sticker maybe. ;)

Aw man Cal....we have got to get you into something better than that! Either that or move to Tampa, you'd fit right in!
I just added another factor into doing it.....the wife. :yikes: I may have to live in the car if I spend that much money on it right now!
wavemaster 4-06-03, 03:17 PM My suggestion...not that yellow wouldn't fit your rolling iron, but like Phantom said, the Saturn looks somehow "ricey" in that color. And, that "Audi"-blue is giving that model a more unique look IMHO. ;)
Nice paint work Wave! What program did you use?
Actually though, I'm not painting it yellow. I think you misunderstood me. I'm leaving it the cranberry color it is, I'm just addingthe wing, rims and ground effects. ;)
JustRockin2 4-06-03, 09:08 PM I thought this pic might bring back some memories for all of those muscle car enthusiast's. This a '73 Roadrunner with a rare 440, it looks exactly like the one I had color wise...but I had a 340 in mine. Unfortunately, I don't have any good pics of mine to post. Cool car, huh? :)

Ah...closer reading of the original article has definetly some advantages for the understanding - guess that I will write it in my book next time. :D
The program I'm using is Photoshop 6, I've simply marked the cranberry coloured areas and copied the whole pic on a second layer, then colored the areas blue with "Fill" and reduced the covering strength. I'm sorry that it's not looking very perfect, but my girlfriend was calling for lunch in a very imperative tone...
All in all, the body parts are looking pretty cool with exception of the rear wing - if available, I would choose a smaller model or just a small spoiler lip for the rear deck (unless you are an experienced racing driver, you can't tell the difference in the behaviour of the car, and I guess that the possibilities to "let it go" are rather limited ;)). All a matter of the looks...I'm preferring the "decent" looks on today cars.
I would also refrain from painting the rear brake drums in the same colour of the car (or in red or yellow) although the cranberry color might not be that striking, but somehow...it's looking somehow "technically imperfect" (I'm wondering why Saturn didn't equipped the rear axle with discs, since the costs are almost the same).
RetroMan 4-07-03, 11:12 AM Man! I say GO! if you ask me, theres nothing quite like the satisfaction of customizing your own beast - theres no need to go totally extreme - it could even be something subtle, and it will separate yours from the production line models. I love the front end of the yellow one and the spoiler at the back - very streamlined. Those little extras are always pricey though huh?
Might have to watch those deep drains on the road *grit those teeth*
I like it. Nothing wrong with making your ride your own. :thumb:

I'm gonna have to look for that program on KaZaa tonight! I can't seem to get it to do that when I use Paint Shop Pro.

I would prefer a smaller wing also, but alas they don't make them for this particular model. Since it's production was ended in 2003, they probably won't be making any more aftermarket products for it now.

I asked myself that same question! As for the color, no match...I usually paint them black like I did on my 'Cuda. Keeps them invisible. ;)

You have NO idea! The wing alone is about $500. :yikes:

Can't go wrong with a Mopar JR2! :D
Thats all I got to say about a YELLOW car.

But for me, when it comes to Muscle Vs. Fuel economy, I'd choose Muscle anyday, I never really gave a rat's ass about conserving fuel, that Machine is a gas-guzzling beast ta be proud of, and I wouldn't have it any other way. ;) :thumb:

Well then, I might offer some advice, take that $2-$3000, and instead of puttin it on a vehicle that will never go up in value no matter how original it is, I would put it inta gettin' the 'Cuda fixed, and as for yours not going up in value, you underestimate your jewel there mate, sure non matching #'s Muscle Cars may not go up in the valued eyes of restorers, "antique" collectors, and die-hard enthusiasts, but to the street enthusiast, Muscle Car owner/collector and HP enthusiasts, that Car o'yers is worth more than you think, the more you do to it, the more it'll be worth in the eyes of those who "count", and I've seen plenty of non-matching #'s Muscle Cars go for a pretty penny, 'specially them 'Cudas. :thumb:
And JustRockin2, that's a Beauty you posted in that pic as well. :thumb:
