Who is your favorite singers and why? What are some examples of their best work that we should check out?
I'd have to say Rob Halford when he was in Judas Priest. My favorites from him are the early years: Sin After Sin, Unleashed in the East, Sad wings of Destiny,etc. Though when they were at their most popular they had some great albums as well. I just think their earlier stuff was more raw and had more of an edge to it, which is what I like about it.

Halford is a very good choice but for me I think Dio stands above everyone else (no pun intened he is 5'4"). The man has the most powerful voice I have heard in a long time. Check out the songs "Holy Diver", "Last in Line", "Rainbow in the dark", "Man on the silver mountain".

I have to agree with all the comments on Dio. Holy Diver was/is awesome. He was the catalyst that not only kept Black Sabbath going, but brought them back to the forefront of metal. And his work with Ritchie Blackmore in Rainbow is just amazing! Before that he was in a band called Elf. I wonder if there are any recordings of Elf. I'd love to get my hands on that!!

I have an import that has two albums on one cd. Try looking into CDnow they usually have a pretty good import selection. Be forwarned it might cost you I paid around $30 for my copy at a local music store several years ago and it is worth every penny I paid. The name is Ronnie James Dio: The Elf albums.
