I'm currently compiling information for a book to be published in 2002 on rock & roll sequels -- songs that are followups, in some sense, to previously existing songs (by the same artist or not). Examples include: Ashes to Ashes, David Bowie's followup to Space Oddity; Sequel, Harry Chapin's followup to Taxi; Little Marie, Chuck Berry's followup to Memphis, etc. Are you aware of any connections along these lines? Any assistance I receive will be credited in the book's acknowledgments.

Many thanks,

Iron Maiden wrote "22 Acacia Avenue" as a follow up to "Charlotte The Harlot". Hope that helps.....

this topic may fit better under pop rock. Rap was the place for many sequel's including "The showstoppa is stupid fresh" by Super Nature (Salt n Pepa before they were Salt n Pepa) answer to The Show by Doug E Fresh. All the Roxanne songs. Janet Jackson's "Someday is tonight" an album track from "Rhythm Nation" is an answer to "Let's wait awhile"."Qualified kiss" by Mona Lisa is an answer to "Kiss" from Prince. In fact Prince wrote the answer. If I think of more I'll write again. I can guarentee when it's released I WILL buy the book. Sounds like a great idea!

Here's another one I thought of "king of the road" by Roger Miller and "Queen of the house" by Judy Miller and "He'll have to go" by Jim Reeves and "He'll have to stay" can't remember who sang it. Couple from the Country side of things
