Yeah I am glad Iron Maiden is back and I have heard the new song but I don't think they will single handedly make metal stronger. Their are some new bands out there that are already doing a pretty good job right now.

Have to disagree with you there Not Man...Maiden's playing the Garden on August 22nd. Name the last metal band to do that! I think Maiden's reunion, and if that damn Van Halen reunion ever gets going, will be the kick in the ass that metal needs. TRUE metal, that is!

Have you guys heard the title track yet? Awesome!!! This stuff sounds like old Maiden...Paul D'anno days! My friend always gets me within the first 5 rows of any concert, along with backstage passes, so I'm dying for August to come around! I got to meet Maiden on the reunion tour, and I'd love to chat with Steve (my idol!) again....

Peace,
Pagan

I've got the Wicker man on CD and it Rocks. The title track is pretty cool too- Although when i heard it, the sound quality wasnt that good. The Wicker man is currently at No.9 over here in the UK, not many metal bands manage that. Hopefully their success here will prompt them to do a British tour(fingers crossed).

That is where you and I differ Pagan I don't judge a band on if they can play a certain arena or sell out and entire show in 10 minutes. If that was the case I'd still think Metallica were the kings of metal.

Not Man, you missed my point completely. I didn't suggest that you judge a band by how big of a venue they play. You said you don't think that they can single handedly make metal stronger. That may be true in part, but for them to be playing the Garden one year after playing the Hammerstein Ballroom shows that they are indeed making metal a little stronger. If they can sell out the Garden again, then the interest is returning, no? Otherwise they'd be playing the Hammerstein again or Roseland. That was all I was trying to say. Besides, Metallica isn't a metal band anymore anyway! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif

Sorry Pagan http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/redface.gif It is sometimes hard to make a point or trying to read someones point when there is no actual talking. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif

Yeah Metallica hasn't been metal since "Master of Puppets".

No harm, no foul Not Man....no need to apologize! It is difficult sometimes to make oneself clear through posting. Goddess knows I've come across that in the NFL newsgroups!!!

Hey NotMan. You didn't like ...And Justice for All? I liked that album and considered that their last "metal" album. What makes you dislike it?

Otherwise, I'm glad Iron Maiden is coming to Madisson Square Garden! I'd love to go to that show. It's been so long since I've hard a metal band playing there. I hope some more metal bands (or rock bands) get in there as well! It makes it feel like the old days are back...

And justice for all is good just not one of my favorites. I guess probably because, and it sounds stupid, but when Cliff died I just didn't think they were Metallica anymore. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/frown.gif I know he wasn't the best bass player but he had one of the most unique styles for a metal bass player. To me there is a difference in the sound of AJFA and their earlier material....as subtle it may be. I guess more than anything I'm just set in my ways......very stubborn http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Actually, I think Metallica had the bass turned down on the entire album! I think they weren't very confident with Jason Newstead in the beginning. They say how the producer (Rasmussen?) screwed up, but I think THEY had it done that way.

Otherwise, Metallica suffered a HUGE loss when the lost Cliff. If he were still around, they'd still be the best Metal band on the planet...

Heavy metal isn't heavy enough for me, the time has come and the metal started rusting, back in the days the heavy metal was up and roaring, but sadly, it won't get to that roaring today http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/frown.gif
