I hate metallica with all my ¤#"%#"¤ heart. I dug them during theri earlier days and now what? Grr...take a look at alice cooper for instance. All the money he made during his touring in the 80's he put back in the shows making them even more "theatrical" and with even more effects. That's rock n roll. Rock n roll isn't about money or driving through hoords of screaming people. It's about music. It's a way of life. Metallica is just %#"¤!.
In the words of Sebastian Bach:
"Well they seem to be happy fellows. They're laughing all the way to the bank"

Amy Livin 5-14-00, 09:57 PM I still love Metallica. They can be the biggest assholes but the music is still the same. It's because they sued me that I don't like what I liked before, it's the same thing.

Sal Collaziano 5-18-00, 03:06 AM Amy. Tell me about the law suit.. I really would like to know..
NotMan. Thanks for posting up that link! It was great!!
I am a fan of older Metallica. When they were heavy and real.. ...And Justice for All is their last real album, to me.. The black album was okay but different. It started the whole change, so that makes me dislike it a bit.. Metallica is a simple rock band these days - nothing like they used to be. They were the Kings of Metal. It's great to be the best at something. Now they're no better than anyone...

Amy Livin 5-18-00, 07:37 PM I'm not in any real big trouble yet. So far the only consiquence is that I have been permanently banned from Napster. The only way I can get in big trouble with Metallica is if I deny ever doing wrong. See they got pissed at me cause I had two of their songs, if I deny it (by filling a form they sent me through Napster) and they find out that they are right, that's when I get in real trouble and they bring this to court.

Amy Livin 5-20-00, 03:31 PM There's just one thing I don't get, Metallica are like stopping people from liking them. I mean the people that download their songs are their fans. Man, if I was in their shoes I'd be like so happy that people want to listen to my music. It can't be cause they're not making money off it their freakin rich man. If someone understands why their giving us shit for liking their music please tell me cause this is really confusing me.

Would anyone like some cheese with their w(h)ine?? C'mon people, cheer up. These people are artists and they don't like seeing their work getting distributed freely around the world. I'm sorry, but neither would I. I think that this is blown out of proportion. And the "excuses" i hear: they are rich, they can afford it!! Well, so is Mercedes but I'm not gonna steal their cars!! I have been buying music for 17 years, and I will continue to do so. I am not saying that I don't like a copied Minidisc or CD, but I'm not going to complain just because people protect their work. That's just my 2 cents.
-Flixfan
------------------
Flixfan, it's more than just the whole Napster thing. Metallica have sold out BIG time! They went from being heroes of the metal world to MTV darlings. The albums since the Black Album have gotten progressively worse, and they've become so full of themselves it's ridiculous. I went back and watched "Cliff 'Em All" the other day and couldn't believe it's the same band. Don't tell me about "growing and maturing as artists" either. This is metal, not art. Motorhead is still Motorhead and Iron Maiden is still Iron Maiden. They've stuck to their guns and still kick major ass. I lost all respect for them the day that Lars, in an interview, quipped "Well, we never really considered ourselves a metal band." WHAT???? What's the first five letters of your band's name, moron???!!! They're laughable now....just my 2 cents....
By the way guys, if you liked the Napster movie, check this page out:

Click on the Metallica movie....pretty funny! It's a great page, you also get to make Britny Spears crash in a monster truck, and have a boxing match with Puff Daddy!!! What could be better than that!!! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif

Pagan, I'm not trying to defend their music or whatever silly comments from Lars. All I said was that we need to respect that artists wants to protect their work from being distributed freely. And I dislike the tendencies that everything online should be free, cause that is not reflecting the real world as it is.
-Flixfan
------------------
Sal Collaziano 5-25-00, 03:05 AM I agree that Metallica is pathetic and I understand what FlixFan is saying. First of all, we don't have to go into the Metallica music part. Second, their music should be bought just like any other. Maybe they should offer their songs on their own website for a price PER song. That would probably help the problem.
See, you have Dr. Dre and Metallica both with the same problem. BUT - nobody says anything about Dr. Dre. That's because he's doing fine with all his fans. But - Metallica has done an injustice to all its old fans AND they're acting stupid about it. Saying things like they never thought of themselves as a Metal Band. It's just a matter of respect that they're losing, and at the same time, getting bad publicity.
